So that's it for Wales at this year's Rugby World Cup.

We will always remember that amazing last-gasp win over Scotland in the opening game.

But since then, they've been shown just how far they have to go to mix it with the big teams.

There's no shame in two defeats to the Black Ferns though the loss to Australia was the one that got away.

This nine-try victory means New Zealand face France in the semi-finals next Saturday.

Tomorrow's quarter-finals see tournament favourites England take on Australia (01:30 BST) and Canada face USA (03:30 BST).

We'll leave it there for today. Thanks again for your company. Til next time...

  2. 'We just want to entertain' - Tuipublished at 09:55 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

New Zealand star Ruby Tui, who scored the second of their nine tries, told ITV Sport:

"That was actually more fun than it looked.

"This team has been through so much and we just want to show not only New Zealand, but the world, that women's rugby is worth watching.

"We don't even know who is going to make the team, that is how hard the competition is within our squad.

"We just want to entertain people."

  3. 'There's a big gap - but I'm excited for the future' - Cunninghampublished at 09:49 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: New Zealand 55-3 Wales

Wales head coach Ioan Cunningham told ITV Sport:

"There's still a fairly big gap between Wales and the top teams in the world, the scoreboard doesn't lie.

"The intensity and speed they can play at and sustain it for 80 minutes is somewhere we've got to try and get to.

"But I'm so proud of the girls' efforts tonight, especially in the first half. We asked them to front up physically and I thought we really did. We hussled them and forced them into errors.

"We came here to try and get out of the pool and we achieved that by reaching the quarter-final but we probably let the Australia game go.

"I'm very excited about the future and proud to be part of this group. So much effort, commitment and sacrifice is made by these players and we've only been professional since January so I'm excited as to where this team can go over the next few years.

"Hopefully there is more success to come leading up to the 2025 World Cup."

  4. 'We're looking to get better' - Simonpublished at 09:43 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

New Zealand's Kennedy Simon told ITV Sport:

"It's a real privilege for us to progress. There's a huge legacy that we're trying to uphold and enhance so to get through to the next phase is awesome.

"The motivation for us is the black jersey first and foremost. But to come out here in front of these supporters and our families is what it's all about.

"We're just trying to get better each week."

  5. 'This is just the start' - Hannah Jonespublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: New Zealand 55-3 Wales

Wales captain Hannah Jones told ITV Sport:

"The side that they [New Zealand] put out today was outstanding. Their offloads were outstanding, but I couldn't have asked more from the girls.

"We showed real heart, put it all on the line and did our best.

"We will learn a lot from playing in front of this amazing crowd and the intensity we had to play at.

"You have to realise that we haven't been professional very long so this is just the start. We're really excited for the future."

Wales need to perform better against these teams. They will go away from this tournament thinking this isn't good enough.

This isn't the best Wales can play so there is a long road ahead.

    This is just the start.

For a moment it looked like Woodman was in for a hat-trick after George's wayward kick.

But that it. It's all over for Wales in New Zealand.

The Black Ferns have dismantled the Welsh scrum and line-out and done a great job snuffing out Wales' most exciting player.

If there's one Achilles heal in this Black Ferns side, it could be discipline.

Too many needless penalties that a strong - better - side will punish.

Hannah Jones skipped inside a couple of tackles there. She has done really well today on such limited possession and in the face of overwhelming firepower.

The Welsh scrum is under pressure and no wonder with Santo Taumata on the field.

The big prop just put Kelsey Jones on her backside in open play. And looked to have a smile on her face when she did it!

    Ouch.
