That's a wrap for this evening.

The Sharks gave the Lions a scare, and a shock was on the cards with the scores level at half-time. But the tourists demonstrated their superior quality in the second half as the Sharks tired following a red card for Jaden Hendrikse.

With another 11 tries racked up in Pretoria tonight, the Lions remain unbeaten on this tour.

Next is a game against South Africa A in Cape Town on Wednesday, the Lions' penultimate warm-up match before their Test series against the Springboks begins in a fortnight.

We hope you can join us on Wednesday. In the meantime, have a good weekend and thanks for joining us today.

Lions fly-half Dan Biggar tells Sky Sports: "We were a bit loose in the first half. We were forcing balls a bit and overplayed.

"We stuck to our plans a bit more in the second half.

"We know we'll come up against very different opposition in the Tests, and we know we'll have to improve.

"We're under no illusions that the Tests will be a different proposition."

On Marcus Smith's call-up, Biggar says: "He's been absolutely flying. He thoroughly deserves his call-up and we look forward to welcoming him in."

Safe to say that was the Lions' toughest test so far in South Africa.

The Sharks, who lost 54-7 to the Lions three days earlier, were level 26-26 at the break with three of their tries coming from mistakes by the tourists.

But scrum-half Jaden Hendrikse's 45th-minute red card for a cheap shot elbow to Liam Williams' head swung the game.

The Lions piled on the points with wing Anthony Watson scoring two of 11 tries.

You can read the match report of their 71-31 victory here.

  4. 'A lot we can work on' - Lions captain Georgepublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 10 July 2021

    FT: Sharks 31-71 Lions

Lions captain for the evening Jamie George tells Sky Sports: "Fair play to the Sharks for the way they fronted up after playing on Wednesday.

"There was a lot of stuff we can take from that and a lot we can work on.

"I thought they [Sharks] brought a lot higher intensity than they brought on Wednesday. We probably got too flustered in the first half.

"I'm so proud [to be captain]. It's been a great day for me and my family."

Well, what a game that was.

There were 16 tries in total, with the Lions scoring 11 of them.

You could be forgiven for forgetting the scores were level at half-time, with the Sharks running in four first-half tries to make it 26-26.

But once scrum-half Jaden Hendrikse was sent off in the 46th minute, it was always going to be a tall order for the home side.

That was a thorough workout for the Lions. It looked like a shock might have been on the cards but they were ultimately comfortable winners.

    Anthony Watson

That's a great try from Anthony Watson.

Yes, the Sharks are absolutely shattered and, yes, their tired tackling is feeble there.

But it's still a superb individual effort from the England wing, who beats the first line of defence with raw power before leaving the next group of defenders grasping at thin air with some lovely footwork.

Elliot Daly misses his conversion with a drop-kick effort. It's that kind of game now.

    Sharks 31-66 Lions

With Conor Murray off the field, Elliot Daly has a go at scrum-half for a Lions scrum five metres from their own line.

He tries a rather audacious back-flicked pass which goes awry but they were playing with advantage anyway.

Dan Biggar kicks to touch and the Lions survive that little spell of Sharks pressure without conceding.

The mounting penalty count eventually catches up with the Lions and scrum-half Conor Murray is sent to the sin-bin.

The Lions will end the game with 14 men.

    Sharks 31-66 Lions

The Lions concede another penalty and the Sharks kick to touch once more.

Again the maul is repelled and, as the Sharks give their backs a go, referee Wayne Barnes calls them back for the latest penalty.

For a fourth time in four minutes, the Sharks kick to the corner.

A chance for the Lions to work on their maul defence now as the Sharks kick to the corner again.

The Sharks have the ball. It's been a while.

The hosts have a penalty. It's in kickable range but, as they're 35 points down with nine minutes left, something tells me they won't have a shot at goal.

    Tom Curry

It feels a long time ago when the Sharks were in front.

Dan Biggar passes inside to Anthony Watson, who bursts through the Sharks' defensive line and into open field.

As the last covering Sharks defender closes in, Watson pops the ball to Tom Curry and the replacement flanker shows a nice turn of speed to run in the Lions' 10th try.

    Tadhg Beirne

A second try of the game for Ireland forward Tadhg Beirne.

It's about as easy a run-in as Beirne might ever get, making his way over from five metres almost unopposed for a try which Dan Biggar converts.

No rolling maul this time. Instead, replacement Lions prop Wyn Jones rampages over the line but is held up.

    Scrum five for the Lions.

As the Lions' tries pile up, so do the Sharks' penalties conceded.

The latest misdemeanour gives Dan Biggar another chance to kick to the corner.

    Another rolling maul incoming?

    Anthony Watson

Feeding time for the Lions. Help yourselves to this buffet of tries.

Prop Wyn Jones is among those stopped just short of the Sharks try line but the last-ditch tackles are only delaying the inevitable.

Dan Biggar pops a pass inside and Anthony Watson powers over for his first try of the evening, which Biggar converts.

    The tries just keep coming!

The Lions' forwards take the direct route once more and Jamie George bursts through a couple of would-be tacklers to claim his second try.

The England hooker won't get a chance to complete his hat-trick as he's replaced by Ken Owens.

    Werner Kok

What was that I said about the Lions pulling clear?

Conor Murray has a box-kick blocked inside his own 22 and the all-action Werner Kok seizes on the loose ball to dive over for a try, with Lionel Cronje missing his conversion.

Even down to 14 men, the Sharks still pose a threat.

    Elliot Daly

Now it looks like the Lions will start pulling clear.

The Lions look to keep ball in hand inside their own half, with Duhan van der Merwe getting a couple of touches as they advance into Sharks territory.

The ball goes out of play but the tourists take their line-out quickly, and Conor Murray throws a pass wide to the right.

Elliot Daly is on hand, breaks through a tired-looking tackle and breezes over for his first Lions try, which Dan Biggar converts.

    Jack Conan

The Lions waste no time in making their numerical advantage count, and it's a first Lions try for Jack Conan.

The Ireland number eight burrows his way over the line from close range, with a bit of help from Tadgh Beirne.

Dan Biggar misses his conversion but the Lions are back in front.

The camera pans to Jaden Hendrikse, who has his head in his hands after his red card.
