A brilliant decision to go for the try. If it doesn't work, people criticise you, and I think 14-11 would have been a decent first half for Glasgow, given how things went. It's been scrappy, both teams have made errors, which you would expect considering the ferocity of the game.

  4. try

    Try - Ulster 14 - 15 Glasgowpublished at 40 mins

    Johnny Matthews

Glasgow turn down the chance for three points, and it pays off! They recycle the ball again and again, and eventually Ulster's defence is breached. Johnny Matthews forces his way over from a couple of yards out.

Ross Thompson kicks the conversion; Glasgow lead for the first time as we go into the break.

  5. Another chance for the visitorspublished at 37 mins

    Ulster 14-8 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow edge back into Ulster territory, and have a scrum - Billy Burns knocked on under pressure. From the scrum they win a penalty, and kick to the corner again.

  6. Penalties apiecepublished at 34 mins

    Ulster 14-8 Glasgow Warriors

George Horne wins a penalty, and Glasgow will look to narrow the gap further as they kick to the corner...

Maybe not, Ulster win a penalty of their own after the line-out.

  7. Subs for both sidespublished at 30 mins

    Ulster 14-8 Glasgow Warriors

John Cooney forced off by injury - Nathan Doak replaces the influential scrum-half.

They need more control, Glasgow. Their exits have been really poor, and that's cost them points

  10. Penalty - Ulster 14-8 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 26 mins

    Duncan Weir

Glasgow hit back immediately. Weir with his first points for Glasgow since 2016.

  11. Rolling onpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Ulster 14-5 Glasgow Warriors

    Michael Morrow

New season, same tactic. The rolling maul is something Ulster did better than anyone last year, and it held up pretty well regardless of the player turnover, so a doff of the cap to forwards coach Roddy Grant.

Bradley Roberts has struggled with his line-out throwing on his first competitive start, so he'll feel a bit better after that.

  12. try

Try - Ulster 14-5 Glasgow Warriorspublished at 21 mins

    Brad Roberts

Duncan Weir penalised for not rolling away quickly enough. Ulster kick for touch and maul their way over from the lineout. Brad Roberts, supporting a magnificent mullet, is the scorer.

    Conversion successful.

  14. Introducing Sione Tuipulotupublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

    Ulster 7-5 Glasgow Warriors

    Michael Morrow
BBC Sport NI at Kingspan Stadium

Oof. Robert Baloucoune, meet Sione Tuipulotu.

Not a bad way to mark your debut, that is a hell of a carry from the Scotland-qualified centre. One way to silence the crowd.

  17. try

Try - Penalty Trypublished at 5 mins

    Ulster 7-0 Glasgow Warriors

Double punishment for Glasgow. Pressure builds from the initial penalty, and as Ulster spread the play, Cole Forbes deliberately knocks on with men queuing up out wide. It results in a penalty try and 10 minutes in the sinbin for Glasgow's fullback.

  18. Blistering startpublished at 1 mins
