When Japan won that scrum penalty on Ireland's put-in they all rallied around and did a bit of back-slapping - they thought that could be the catalyst for a shift in momentum.

That's why Garry Ringrose's huge hit on Timothy Lafaele which resulted in a turnover was so big, it slammed the door on Japan's glimmer of hope and put Ireland right back in the driving seat.

A knock on from Japan gives Ireland a scrum just inside the Japan half. Very disjointed from the visitors so far, but at least their forwards then win a penalty to give themselves a chance of getting upfield.

Conway looked to have got a hand to it as he and Kotaro Matsushima came together, but the referee says no try after the replays.

Ireland are throwing it around at will in the backs and Andrew Conway sniffs a hat trick as he follows a kick through that bobbles over the line.

Furlong's drive saw Japan concede a penalty that gives Sexton a simple three-pointer just off to the right of the posts.

Ireland are rampant, with Tadhg Furlong barging through with a mighty carry deep into the Japan 22.

This is really, really good stuff from Ireland.

Two minutes before that try they were defending a line-out on their own 22. Their pack is extremely dynamic and that is helping them use the full width of the pitch and find gaps for their backs to exploit.

Japan have barely threatened as yet, and just cannot make an impression as Hugo Keenan charges down a kick on halfway to snuff out an attack.
