    Ireland 29-0 Japan

Japan cling on at the scrum, but that is the break - a superb showing from Ireland while Japan look light years away from the outfit that have become a threat on the world stage.

Not given, but it's a penalty to Ireland for deliberate offside from Atsushi Sakate, who goes to the sin bin.

Smart kicking through has been a feature of Irish play today, and another bouncing bomb from Sexton turns Japan on their heels to put Ireland back into the Japanese half.

When Japan won that scrum penalty on Ireland's put-in they all rallied around and did a bit of back-slapping - they thought that could be the catalyst for a shift in momentum.

That's why Garry Ringrose's huge hit on Timothy Lafaele which resulted in a turnover was so big, it slammed the door on Japan's glimmer of hope and put Ireland right back in the driving seat.

Garry Ringrose makes a short burst to the left, then stays up long enough to feed his scrum half, who sprints over from close range for another fine try and Gibson Park's first for his country.

    Johnny Sexton converts with ease.

Oooof! A huge tackle from Garry Ringrose stops a rare attack dead in its tracks in midfield. Bundee Aki is straight over to high five his team mate.

A knock on from Japan gives Ireland a scrum just inside the Japan half. Very disjointed from the visitors so far, but at least their forwards then win a penalty to give themselves a chance of getting upfield.

This is really, really good stuff from Ireland.

Two minutes before that try they were defending a line-out on their own 22. Their pack is extremely dynamic and that is helping them use the full width of the pitch and find gaps for their backs to exploit.

And another! Super slick stuff from Ireland.

There's a mighty drive from a throw on the left touch line, then the ball is spun wide and with Conway eyeing acres of space, the wing has a simple task of sliding in near the corner flag for his second.

Sexton misses the kick, a rare mis-step from the captain.

Ireland attack coach Mike Catt thoroughly enjoyed that one from the coaching box.

That's a beautiful score exhibiting all the width and flair that Andy Farrell envisioned when he took over.

I'll not bring it up again, but a reminder that Ireland were two tries up early in the World Cup game. Far from a done deal...

    The great start continues!

It goes through several pairs of Irish hands until Jamison Gibson Park's deft kick allows Andrew Conway time to let it bounce into his hands before racing in for a try in the corner.

Really slick stuff, and Sexton adds his second conversion.
