The Warriors survive a near-scare, and now they're off to France to face Lyon in the quarter-finals.

Kyle Steyn, who claims to be a centre, with a game-winning performance on the wing.

Can Edinburgh make it two Scottish teams in the next round? We'll have to see when they take on Bath tomorrow evening. We'll see you then for more live coverage.

Until then, have a good one!

Where did the momentum go from Glasgow? They seemed to lose it. Why is it, when they're bringing players like Fagerson - a world class prop - on? If I was Danny Wilson, I'd be looking at that.

The game could have been dead and buried at half-time if they’d taken their opportunities. They left maybe three tries on the pitch. They closed out the last fifteen minutes, so ultimately it was a good performance. I thought Thomas Gordon was outstanding.

Glasgow made hard work of it, it should have been a lot more comfortable than it was. They played some outstanding stuff when they hit their stride, they could have scored way more tries but they let Newcastle back into it.

  5. "We left a few out there" - Wilsonpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 15 April 2022

FT: Newcastle Falcons 17-27 Glasgow Warriors

Warriors head coach Danny Wilson spoke to BBC Scotland: "Still plenty to work there, we’ve left a few out there if I’m brutally honest.

"The rugby we played in the first ten minutes was outstanding and we set the tone. But we let sides back in the game and we did that a little tonight.

"We’ve achieved an away win against a team that has plenty of strike force. We played some really good rugby but our discipline let them back in a little bit, too many penalties.

"I’m nitpicking, because to come away from home and get a win against a Premiership team is pleasing, before we go out to South Africa."

Glasgow Warriors are through to the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Despite a fightback from Newcastle Falcons in the second-half, it was too little too late.

The visitors did just enough at the start of the first and second-half, with Kyle Steyn's man of the match performance the highlight at Kingston Park.

Not the capitulation that Glasgow fans had feared. It looks likely that it'll be Lyon up next for Danny Wilson's side.

This whole thing is getting very scrappy. Box kicks bouncing in the canyon between players, passes going to deck and players cramping up all over.

The good news for Glasgow is, they're happy enough to watch Newcastle spill the ball and run down the clock.

Kyle Steyn has just been named Man of the Match as well!

    Newcastle Falcons 17-27 Glasgow Warriors

Newcastle are really trying their hardest to get back into this, spear-headed by Joel Hodgson, but their play is just a little slack.

They come forward but knock on, and Glasgow celebrate like it's a try. They win the penalty from the scrum and go for the corner.

  9. Missed penaltypublished at 69 mins

    Newcastle Falcons 17-27 Glasgow Warriors

High, high tackle from Trevor Davison. It's on the half-way line and Ross Thompson is going for the posts, surprisingly.

It's got to be big. It is big. But it's wide.

    Brilliant try from Joel Hodgson!

Alan Tait was just singing his praises and he's been proved right. Newcastle have looked a lot brighter since his introduction five minutes ago.

They charged up the pitch with the carries of Luther Burrell and the tempo has totally shifted. They got into Glasgow's territory and Hodgson dummied before scurrying through the gap.

This could be a late barrage from the hosts - can Glasgow survive?

  11. Penaltypublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 15 April 2022

    Newcastle Falcons 10-27 Glasgow Warriors

The Warriors come forward again, with Kyle Steyn finding more gaps and bringing his side forward.

Newcastle are under the cosh and they concede another penalty. This time Ross Thompson goes for the sticks and it's a clean penalty.

    Newcastle Falcons 10-24 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow hit back! Kyle Steyn again!

There was another penalty down in the corner, they went for the line and worked the phases. In the end, it was good play from Sam Johnson and Sione Tuipulotu that made room fro Steyn, who danced and then barged his way over.

Good carries from Thomas Gordon and Zander Fagerson in there, too.

The kick isn't good, only the five points.

Ryan Wilson's race is finally run and Ally Miller comes on, as Glasgow look to extend their lead.

They kick to the corner and try to maul it over... it doesn't work but they have a penalty advantage.

    Newcastle Falcons 10-19 Glasgow Warriors

A sea of red and white and light blue heaves... and the referee's arm goes up! It's been given to Will Montgomery, but that's good guesswork at best. Impossible to see who was at the bottom of that heap.

Brett Connon lines it up from the touchline... and it's good! It's a nine-point game!

    Newcastle Falcons 3-19 Glasgow Warriors

The ball is stuck down in the far corner as the referee pings Glasgow again and gives Ryan Wilson a talking to. The next penalty looks likely to be a yellow card.

    Newcastle tap-and-go again...

Tom Penny isn't held in the tackle, he stretches for the line... but the referee has brought play back.

Glasgow have retreated back to their own line after a few penalty concessions in a row. If Newcastle score now, it's an open game and Glasgow's dominance might well be for nothing.

  17. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Newcastle Falcons 3-19 Glasgow Warriors

Penalty to Glasgow and they've started the second-half with the same urgency as the first. They'll be keen not to repeat the capitulation in Cardiff.

They've gotten into the Newcastle five-metre line for the second time already... but their hands let them down again! A scrum to Newcastle just in front of their own line.

  18. Kick-offpublished at 40 mins

    Newcastle Falcons 3-19 Glasgow Warriors

A couple of changes at the break for the visitors - Zander Fagerson and Jamie Bhatti are on.

And, in case you missed it, Rob Harley is on for Scott Cummings, who looked to have picked up another injury.

Brett Connon gets us back under way.

The game should be dead and buried. Glasgow should have scored five or six tries in that half. Newcastle will be thinking ‘we’ve got a chance if we can score first’. If Glasgow get that try first, they could put them to the sword.

Newcastle are poor. It’s up to Glasgow to put them away. They’ve got to put the game out of reach. I can imagine Dean Richards is going off his trolley in the changing room.
