That's a good try. A penalty advantage seems to relax everyone. 18 minutes in - it's no more than Glasgow deserve.

    Yes they can!

Glasgow put width on the ball off the back of the lineout, and Rufus McLean strolls away to score in the corner.

Two pinpoint passes from George Horne and Josh McKay meant that no-on ehad to break stride.

Duncan Weir knocks over the conversion, and Glasgow lead by seven.

    Glasgow 0-0 Perpignan

Ooft. Sione Vailanu sends a would-be Perpignan tackler into next week, and makes his way to within touching distance of the Perpignan line.

The visitors can only stop Glasgow illegally, and Glasgow kick the resulting penalty to the corner.

Can they make this one count?

  4. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Glasgow 0-0 Perpignan

Ah... George Turner's throw flies over Richie Gray's outstretched arms, and Perpignan can clear their lines.

    Glasgow 0-0 Perpignan

Away from the scrum discourse, Glasgow are on the front foot again.

They win a penalty after Perpignan infringe at the breakdown, and Duncan Weir kicks to the corner.

More strong carries from the forwards in that passage of play, especially Matt Fagerson and Richie Gray.

The officials' management of the scrum is mind boggling at times.

    Glasgow 0-0 Perpignan

Glasgow make steady progress over the gain line once more.

However, Lewis Bean knocks-on after Josh McKay had made his way into the Perpignan 22, and we will have the game's first scrum.

Peter Wright will be watching eagerly on Radio Scotland...

Glasgow were absolutely hammering on the door, but some desperate Perpignan defence denies them.

    Glasgow Warriors v Perpignan (20:00)

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith has been talking to BBC Radio Scotland ahead of kick-off:

"I think the surface will be a little bit different," he said, "but the rest I can't foresee much of a change to our approach.

"We're very sad. We wanted to play at Scotstoun at all costs. The groundstaff tried everything. It's a pity that we can't have all our fans out here, but I'm sure they understand.

"It's always good playing at Murrayfield, there's not much water on the pitch.

"We have to back up last week's performance. Perpignan have very good individual rugby players, we expect them to bring a different style, adn we will have to manage that well."

  14. Changes aplenty for Warriorspublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Perpignan (20:00)

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith named a much rotated team against Bath last week, but saw his fringe players deliver a gutsy, polished performance in a 22-19 win.

Smith makes 10 changes from that XV, as the Warriors look to consolidate their strong start to this European campaign.

Murphy Walker and Richie Gray come into the pack, and there is an entirely new back row consisting of Matt Fagerson, Sione Vailanu and Jack Dempsey.

In the backs, Duncan Weir starts at 10 having kicked the winning penalty against Bath, Huw Jones shifts inside to 12 and is joined by Sione Tuipulotu in the centres, whilst Sebastian Cancelliere and Josh McKay start in the back three.

  17. A change of venuepublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Perpignan (20:00)

With the bitterly cold weather we've been experiencing in Scotland over the past week, the pitch at Scotstoun was deemed unsafe, and the decision was taken to move the fixture to the national stadium.

It takes Glasgow away from fortress Scotstoun, and deprives them of the fervent home crowd that so often spurs them on.

Will they be able to continue their excellent "home" form down the M8? Time will soon tell.
