Gloucester-Hartpury have ended the London dominance in the Premier 15s as they join Saracens and Harlequins as the third team to win the trophy.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Exeter head coach Susie Appleby said: "The better team came out on top and that is normally how finals go. Congratulations to Gloucester but we are gutted. We are really proud of what we are doing, we are building and have a good set up coming through the college and university system. we have some wonderful players with a fantastic support network.

"The future is really bright and today hurts because we are better than that. I'm absolutely gutted at our performance, even more so than last year. We won't solve it today and we haven't become a bad team overnight but this is a real moment to learn form and move forward.

"Over 9,000 people coming to Kingsholm to watch a final is amazing. The game is in an amazing place and the payers are role models for the future. Yes we are disappointed now but tomorrow we will be excited about what has happened today from a bigger perspective and everyone will go again."

Speaking to BBC Sport, Gloucester head coach Sean Lynn said: "This is a special group. It was great game out there.

"I have been pleased with them all season. They have just kept going and going and it's been a long season.

"It shows the character of the individuals that Sarah Beckett and Mo Hunt have. At the beginning of the year they were very disappointed [to miss out on England World Cup selection] and that is sport sometimes, it doesn't always go your way.

"But they just showed what they can do and what they can control."

Gloucester co-captains Natasha 'Mo' Hunt and Zoe Aldcroft lift the trophy together and that could well be the loudest cheer of the afternoon.

The party has started in Gloucester.

Exeter are handed their losers' medals first and they will be back next season.

As expected, the entire Gloucester squad is on the field as they celebrate a first Premier 15s title.

The Cherry and Whites end the London dominance on the English top-flight as they become the third team to win the tournament, after Saracens and Harlequins.

Gloucester-Hartpury are champions of the Premier 15s!

They had too much for Exeter, who have lost back-to-back finals.

The celebrations have begun at Queensholm.

The clock is in the red and Gloucester are home and hosed. Exeter are on the ball but they cannot catch the Cherry and Whites.

You have to commend Exeter's endeavour.

They have been behind for most of the game but they haven't taken a backward step.

They're down the other end again as they look to force their way over for a third try.

It's a record crowd for the Premier 15s final, which is confirmed at 9,668.

It's been a terrific atmosphere at Queensholm.

Tatyana Heard limps her way to the line but she knocks on before she is able to ground the ball.

She was already struggling before she caught the ball but that will be her last involvement.

Exeter have a five metre scrum deep inside their own half. This is not where they want to be.

Gloucester are banging on the door.

They throw the ball wide and Kate Zackary is off the line quickly to try and hack it away and disrupt the Gloucester attack.

That would've been a terrific clearing tackle in football but it costs her 10 minutes in the bin of the Premier 15s final.

Lleucu George's race is run. She just seemed to pull up as she kicked the ball.

Sophie Bridger moves inside to direct the Gloucester ship from 10, while Lisa Neumann is on to cover in the centre.

Exeter are not going away quietly. They are being fuelled by last year's final heartache against Saracens as they keep carrying hard.

Gloucester are doing their best to slow the game and tick the clock down.
