That half was an hour long with several pauses for injuries and TMO reviews.
Let's hope for a snappier affair after the break!
After four minutes of overtime, Damian Willemse decides he has had enough and kicks the ball into touch.
A pulsating first half.
Will Jordan's try is chalked off as Mark Telea is adjudged to have knocked on in the build-up.
We'll come back for the penalty, which Richie Mo'unga kicks to touch.
Will Jordan
Well worked.
But will it stand or was there a knock-on in the build up?
South Africa 14-0 New Zealand
The clock is in the red at the end of the first half but we are still playing as New Zealand try to engineer an opportunity.
South Africa 14-0 New Zealand
It's red.
Scott Barrett has flown in on Malcolm Marx and it looks worse each time you see it.
He's shown a red card having already been sent to the bin during the first half.
South Africa 14-0 New Zealand
Now then.
Scott Barrett could be in trouble here. He has already had a yellow card but he decides to fly into a reckless clear out.
Surely a red?
South Africa 14-0 New Zealand
Just a few minutes to go until half-time and New Zealand are finally having some sustained possession as they roll through the phases.
The green wall is standing firm for now though.
Kurt-Lee Arendse (con Manie Libbok)
Too easy.
Jordie Barrett makes a slight break in the midfield but his offload is loose and straight into the grateful hands of Kurt-Lee Arendse.
You're not stopping him from there and it's an easy second try for the Boks as Manie Libbok adds a simple conversion from in front of the posts.
South Africa 7-0 New Zealand
Makazole Mapimpi cuts back inside, metres from the try line but he spills the ball forward in the contact.
South Africa have looked a threat out wide.
South Africa 7-0 New Zealand
That's what you pay the money to see.
New Zealand begin to grow into the game and throw the ball around in midfield.
But Canan Moodie is on hand to intercept and quickly release the pass to Damian Willemse, who decides to kick it away.
Lovely hands by the young centre.
South Africa 7-0 New Zealand
New Zealand are back to their full complement as Sam Cane and Scott Barrett return from the naughty boy step.
South Africa 7-0 New Zealand
Andre Esterhuizen has looked threatening with ball in hand this evening but he has just exposed a gap in the All Black defence.
The big Harlequins centre is eventually hauled down by a covering Richie Mo'unga but that was some run.
South Africa 7-0 New Zealand
How has he missed that?
New Zealand finally get down the other end and have a relatively comfortable shot at goal to reduce the deficit.
But Richie Mo'unga's penalty comes back off the post and New Zealand are still not off the mark.
Siya Kolisi (con Manie Libbok)
It was coming.
South Africa have been banging on the door since the first minute and it has finally swung open.
Siya Kolisi smashes his way over from close range and Manie Libbok kicks the conversion.
South Africa 0-0 New Zealand
A terrifying sight!
New Zealand have a goal line dropout, which is caught by Duane Vermeulen.
The number eight sets off at full gallop but is well tackled by Dane Coles.
Strong defence.
South Africa 0-0 New Zealand
Things are getting from bad to worse for the All Blacks.
Skipper Sam Cane joins Scott Barrett in the sin-bin and New Zealand are down to 13 for the time being.
South Africa continue to bang on the door.
South Africa 0-0 New Zealand
Tyrel Lomax is off with what looks like a knee injury.
That's a blow for the All Blacks and the prop is replaced by Fletcher Newell.
South Africa 0-0 New Zealand
Scott Barrett will sit out the next 10 minutes as the All Blacks' penalty count begins to mount up.
New Zealand down to 14.
