Right, there's plenty going on here.

Another injury worry for France, as Romain Ntamack goes off with help from the physios.

Finn Russell wants the officials to have a look at a potential head-on-head clash, but there's nothing doing, and then Scotland's fly-half hammers a monstrous kick to touch after Nic Berry awarded Scotland a penalty.

Duhan van der Merwe runs back to claim a steepling up-and-under, but is hauled into touch by the omni-present Antoine Dupont.

    Thomas Ramos' kicking isn't infallible.

The French full-back's punt downfield bounces out of play dead, and Scotland will now have a scrum all the way back in French territory.

The grounding was fine, and every France player was onside chasing the kick through, but Romain Ntamack knocked on in the phase before Damian Penaud dotted down.

Scotland breathe a sigh of relief - that would have been curtains for Gregor Townsend's side.

That's the genius of this French team. You can think you are well in the game, keeping them at bay and then they have a spell like that, score 14 points and leave you wondering what on earth has just happened.

This could be a long second half for Scotland if they can't halt this French momentum.

  8. Try reviewpublished at 50 mins

    France 27-10 Scotland

France think they've scored another here.

Nic Berry's on-field decision is 'try', but the ref wants a second look at a few things in the build-up.

Duhan van der Merwe coughs up possession again, as he spills the ball forward in contact.

Cyril Baille is down injured off the ball and receiving treatment - that will worry Fabien Galthie.

Baille looks to have done his calf.

    France 27-10 Scotland

Blair Kinghorn's pass is ever so slightly behind Duhan van der Merwe, and Scotland's winger can't gather it cleanly.

That was a chance to make serious ground, but it slips away.

For all Van der Merwe's physical attributes, he does occasionally leave you tearing your hair out.

    Charles Ollivon

    Bang bang!

France take a lineout quickly, and Antoine Dupont spots an overlap down the left-hand side.

Thomas Ramos skips away from Ali Price, the ball goes infield to Charles Ollivon, and the giant flanker evades Finn Russell's attempted tackle to score under the posts.

Ramos adds a simple conversion, and Scotland have it all to do now.

    Damian Penaud

France race out of the blocks in this second half.

Scotland claimed the kick-off cleanly, but Pierre Schoeman then knocked-on, and the hosts pounced.

Antoine Dupont sniped down the blindside, found Damian Penaud outside him, and France's finisher extraordinaire goes over in the corner.

Thomas Ramos splits the posts from out wide, and suddenly France have a 10-point lead.

    Away we go again...

There's some sort of light show going on in the stands - no idea why.

With the heat and humidity in Saint Etienne, and the massive shift that Scotland's pack have put in so far, you feel that the bench will have a big part to play in the second half.

Scotland have gone with a six-two split, so have plenty of options in the pack.

We knew that France would be a bit rusty, but what a start it was from Scotland - Finn Russell judged when to pass and when to kick early perfectly.

The more the game goes, the better France will be, and they have shown that.

  16. Half-timepublished at 42 mins

    France 13-10 Scotland

Richie Gray pinches a lineout, and Finn Russell inexplicably decides to kick into open space rather than find touch.

Thomas Ramos is having none of it though, and boots the ball into the stands.

The players head off for a well-earned breather.

Jack Dempsey finds himself somewhat isolated, and Jonathan Danty gets over the ball to win the penalty.

France will have one final attack before the break.

Finn Russell playing scrum-half is fun.

He momentarily forgets that he is the man tasked with getting the ball from the back of the maul, and quickly has to scamper forward when Nic Berry says "use it".

    That's a boost.

Scotland force a scrum penalty and Finn Russell kicks to touch.

Can't imagine they'll be in any rush to take this lineout.

Scotland have defended manfully but the dam has been threatening to burst for the past 15 minutes.

It is still extremely humid even approaching 10pm local time here, and all that defending must be taking its toll on Scottish legs.

Get to half-time within three and that would be a decent return for Gregor Townsend.
