    Scotland 14-7 Japan

Japan aren't phased by that Scotland try.

They are straight on the front foot, but play is stopped because of a nasty looking injury to Nijiho Nagata.

Scotland's Francesca McGhie is also off for an HIA.

    Emma Orr

    What a try that is!

Emma Orr could, perhaps should, have scored in the first half, but she more than makes up for it here.

A huge fend sees her break the first tackle, before she steps off her right foot and races away for a stunning score.

Helen Nelson adds the extras, and Scotland lead for the first time.

    HT: Scotland 7-7 Japan

Scotland repelled wave after wave of Japanese attack in the first half-hour of that first half, before turning the tide and levelling the scores.

They will have the wind behind them after the break, and a numerical advantage for the next 10 minutes of play.

You sense they have to make it count if they want the WXV2 crown.

    Penalty try

    The relentless pressure finally tells.

Scotland march forward at the scrum again, and this time Kat Roche goes under the posts to award a penalty try.

    That's half-time in Cape Town.

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Rinse and repeat. Another penalty and another scrum.

Referee Kat Roche keeps her cards in her pockets for now though.

  8. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

ANOTHER penalty for Scotland at the scrum, and they will pack down again.

Surely there is a card coming for Japan.

  9. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Japan get the ball out of this scrum quickly, and number eight Seina Saito crashes into contact.

Helen Nelson gets over the ball superbly to win a penalty though and Scotland will get one last chance in this first half.

This time they opt for a scrum.

  10. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Incredible maul defence from Japan, as they stop Scotland's momentum and ultimately win a scrum when the ball doesn't come out.

  11. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Another penalty goes Scotland's way after Japan fail to roll away, and Helen Nelson nudges it into the corner.

    Here comes a rolling maul...

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Another massive Scotland nudge at the scrum wins a penalty, and Helen Nelson kicks them back into Japan's 22.

Can they take advantage this time?

  13. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

    Oh, they had to score.

Emma Orr does all the hard work, taking a beautifully disguised pass out the back from Lisa Thomson, but just can't get the final pass right.

The last Japanese defender committed really early - Orr could have just gone herself.

  14. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Big carries from Lisa Thomson and Lana Skeldon take Scotland deep into Japan's 22.

Best chance of the game for Scotland...

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Scotland just cannot get going in attack, but in fairness, they are neutralising Japan superbly in defence.

They now smash Japan back at scrum time and win a penalty that Helen Nelson kicks into Japan's half.

Been a while since they were down there.

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

That's brilliant from Japan's Moe Tsukui.

Her box-kick in behind Francesca McGhie rolls out right in the corner, and the pressure is piled back on to Scotland.

Lana Skeldon hits her mark though and Helen Nelson belts it downfield.

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

    Scotland escape again.

Japan will be furious that they have only scored once in the opening 20 minutes.

  18. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Silly from Evie Gallagher and Scotland.

Emma Orr is pinged for not rolling away, and Gallagher then deliberately slows Japan taking the penalty.

Scotland are marched back 10m, and Japan are now deep in the 22.

It's been pretty relentless stuff from the Sakura XV.

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Ayasa Otsuka kicks again, but Rhona Lloyd reads it well and then does brilliantly to get out of her own in-goal area.

Lisa Thomson clears, but can't get much distance on her kick. Scotland would have been bracing themselves for another defensive set, but they steal the lineout.

    Scotland 0-7 Japan

Japan are playing some really slick stuff out there, and an excellent kick through by Ayasa Otsuka forces Chloe Rollie to hack the ball into touch.

Japan have the lineout inside Scotland's 22. This is a big chance.
