Alun Wyn Jones hopes Wales' quarter-final appearance at the World Cup in France will not paper over any cracks in Welsh rugby.
Following a poor year, Warren Gatland's side managed to top their pool with four wins before being knocked out by Argentina in the last eight.
"I'm pleased for the players' success they had on the backdrop of a tough year for Welsh rugby," he said.
Wales went into the World Cup following a season in which they won only once in the Six Nations with players also threatening to strike during the tournament over contractual issues.
After three months preparing under the returning Gatland, they reached the knockout stage.
But Jones, who won a record 158 caps for Wales before retiring from international rugby in May, added: "I hope it doesn't paper over the cracks because there are deeper-rooted issues that need to be sorted."

I haven't seen George North enjoy himself as much as this in a while, the way he's playing without the pressure.
There's a good jovial atmosphere in the crowd who are here to see good free-flowing rugby and the boys showcasing their skills.

It's been a pretty eventful half in Cardiff.
Here are the pick of the images from what is a farewell for several rugby greats.

Well that was entertaining stuff from both sides but Wales looked particularly good.
Of course they don't usually come up against a defence as disorganised as Barbarians but they are cutting the visitors to shreds.
However they have blown at least two golden chances and those are the moments that can decide more important games - as we saw last month in Marseille.
However plenty of positives so far.
I wonder if Sam Costelow will make it out for the second half? He looked in some pain when he scored.

"Wales are playing a bit different than we normally see, playing out of the back from the pods of forwards and targeting the blindside.
"They've been good so far."

George North insists he has no plans to follow fellow Wales centurions into Test retirement.
The centre has had a fine first half today as Welsh rugby bids farewell to greats Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric and Leigh Halfpenny.
Dan Biggar also retired from international rugby following the World Cup quarter-final exit last month.
"I was really happy with my form in the World Cup and I'm still competing for the jersey," said 31-year-old North.
"I still want to play and fight for my place. For me it's still a big driver and if the boss [Warren Gatland] keeps picking me then I want to carry on."
North became the youngest player to score on his Wales debut in 2010 and 13 years later is now Wales' third most-capped player, the veteran of 118 Tests for his country and three for the British and Irish Lions.
North has scored 47 tries for Wales, with only Shane Williams' record mark of 58 ahead of him, while in France he became the first Welshman to appear in four World Cup quarter-finals.

Superb defence by Leigh Halfpenny, everyone would have thought the Barbarians would have scored there but two good tackles from Halfpenny in a short space of time.
Some lovely rugby on display in this first half, and a great final appearance for Leigh Halfpenny as things stand.
Three of three from the boot and a trademark tackle to end the half.
Grab a cuppa, we will be back for the second half before you know it.
Wales 21-5 Barbarians
Wonderful stuff from Leigh Halfpenny.
The departing full-back makes a key defensive tackle before getting to his feet and winning a turnover for Wales.
That should be that for the first half.

Forgot to mention a replacement a few moments ago, as Peni Ravai is on for the Baa-Baas in place of Taniela Tupou.

George North has touched the ball more in this half than he did in the entire World Cup!
And Wales look so much more threatening for it.

As Sam Costelow was taking the ball the cover was coming across and I thought he was going to get tackled hard.
He did well to hold on there!

A minute left to play in this first half, which has really livened up.
Wales have a scrum a few yards inside the Barbarians half. Is there one last chance in this half?
Sam Costelow, con Leigh Halfpenny
A wonderful try from Sam Costelow.
After taking a heavy hit moments ago, the Wales fly-half plays a lovely chipped kick to himself over the Baa-Baas defence - perfectly weighted - for the third Welsh try of the game.
He is still shaken up from the tackle, as he asks his teammates to avoid patting him on the back in the celebrations.
Leigh Halfpenny again nails the conversion. Three from three today.

Sam Costelow is the latest player to be on the receiving end of a big tackle which leaves the Scarlets man shaken.

In a race between Rio Dyer and Alun Wyn Jones there is only going to be one winner.
The Dragons wing cruises past Jones and passes inside to Tomos Williams but the Wales scrum half is indecisive with the ball.
He instead passes back to Dyer who is bundled into touch by two Barbarians.
Lovely build-up play though.

Justin Tipuric was so quick there to get back and over the ball. He had no time to recover.
Thats was class play!
Wales 14-5 Barbarians
It has been a frantic end to this first half.
Wales are almost in again after more good work from George North, but Justin Tipuric steals back possession.
The blue scrum hat is for once Wales' enemy.
