"It was a great defensive effort. I could really notice the difference in inter-pro rugby.

"It was a difficult game but we had some big second-half impact from the likes of Dave Ewers and Rob (Herring) to get us over the line."

My goodness everyone can come out of hiding.

What a nail biter in Belfast.

Ulster rely on some of their Internationals to come off the bench and drive them home after a gallant effort from last year's champions Munster.

Nick Timoney's try 10 minutes from time was enough in the end, but they made their fans sweat.

Eric O'Sullivan and Nick Timoney with a superb rip from a Munster forward 15 metres out. Match-winning defence perhaps.

    Nick Timoney (68 mins)

Well, well, well. How the tides have turned at scrum-time. Scott Wilson is a revelation, helping to demolish the Reds front-row.

As the Munster scrum crumbles, Timoney breaks clear two metres out and dives over.

    Nathan Doak adds the extras

That's a big scrum penalty to win. Hat's off (or scrum caps off in that case) to Scott Wilson, who is making his debut at prop and is still playing for Queen's University.

Ulster gain a kickable penalty for a ruck infringement....Billy Burns goes to the corner, five metres out.

But they blow it! a dummy throw from Rob Herring sees a free-kick given to Munster. Frustrating .
