    Edinburgh 7-0 Benetton

Edinburgh have taken no time at all to flow through the gears. Ben Healy is desperate to get the ball in hand and fire it out wide. Benetton are struggling to contain them.

An Edinburgh penalty is pinged into the corner and they're going for the rolling maul again.

  2. Cherry off earlypublished at 6 mins

    Edinburgh 7-0 Benetton

A Benetton scrum near the halfway line results in an Edinburgh free-kick as scrum-half Andy Uren is far too slow to put the ball in.

The next scrum is messy and Dave Cherry is an unfortunate casualty, it looks like an ankle knock. Ewan Ashman replaces him early on. A 76 minute shift lies in wait for the sub hooker. Ooft.

Right. I'm here to do a piece on Blair Kinghorn, so thanks for that early bit of colour, Blair.

Didn't mess about did he? Two and a half minutes. A gap, some strength and over he goes. He'll be missed around here.

    Blair Kinghorn

The maul goes down and the advantage is coming - but it doesn't matter!

Ben Healy fires a bullet of a pass into the hands of Blair Kinghorn and the smile on his face is as wide as the Forth as he dives over the line.

He's swarmed by his teammates. What a way to start your final home game at the Hive.

The maul isn't bad, but it spills out the back. Duhan van der Merwe scoops up and he isn't going to pass from there, is he?

He bundles through two tackles and slaps the ball against the post protector. You're allowed to hit the base of the post, but that was a bit high.

If we're being harsh, he should score from there! Edinburgh had a penalty advantage anyway and they go for the corner.

    Edinburgh 0-0 Benetton

Edinburgh turn the ball over after only 20 seconds and they're on the Benetton 22m line.

They go wide quickly, and Matt Currie stabs a kick through but Benetton manage to bundle it into touch.

This is a great early chance on the 5m line.

And we are off and running! Can Edinburgh see off this latest challenge and continue their fine start, or will they finally find themselves on the wrong side of a tight game?

    We're about to find out.

  8. Everitt 'sad to lose' Kinghornpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2023

    Edinburgh v Benetton (19:35)

Edinburgh senior coach Sean Everitt talks to Viaplay about the future departure of Blair Kinghorn: "It's a great opportunity for Blair. Selfishly, as a coach, and looking from a performance side of things, we're sad to lose him because he offers the team a lot. He's an integral part of the team and a well-liked member of the group.

"There's three parties here. The individual, Edinburgh Rugby and Scottish Rugby. It's got to suit all three and it did, so the right decision has been made.

"It does put a bit of a spanner in the works, but the international players were up for rest week after next anyway. Blair will have his last game against Ulster. That ties in nicely, because Emiliano Boffelli will be back after that. We have depth so it's a nice opportunity for us to grow our squad.

"We'd love to keep the home record going. It's something we spoke about during the week, consistency in our performance. Benetton will be a tough nut to crack, they don't give you much.

    Edinburgh v Benetton (19:35)

Blair Kinghorn will join Toulouse from Edinburgh after next weekend's away match against Ulster.

Edinburgh have agreed a "six-figure release fee" for Kinghorn, who was under contract until next June but had "already intimated his intention" to join the Top 14 side.

"This has been a really tough decision," the 26-year-old said. "Joining Toulouse is an opportunity that's come forward that I think will be good for me as person, and to develop my career and my game. It's a big decision, but I feel like it's the right move for me."

It's sure to be an emotional night for the man who is nicknamed "Smoggy". Nope? Me neither.

    Edinburgh v Benetton (19:35 KO)

Welcome back for another night of URC action, as Edinburgh host Benetton Treviso at the Hive Stadium.

Sean Everitt's side have flown out the traps so far this season, winning four of their five games but they've only secured one bonus point, meaning they currently sit fifth.

Benetton also enjoyed a good start but tasted defeat for the first time this season last weekend - against Edinburgh's biggest rivals Glasgow Warriors.
