You are quite the show-off Nolann Le Garrec.

It has been a good performance. Hume and McCloskey in midfield have found pockets of space and carried the ball well with two hands. They look dangerous, the only downside is Racing on the counter attack look very good.

Ulster will be delighted going in at the break. There is no doubt Racing have left a lot out there but that is the desperation you want to see from Ulster players on big nights like this.

The big players we talked about before the game have been outstanding. It hasn't been perfect, the lineout needs to be addressed, but Ulster have showed up and put their bodies on the line in the first half.

There is a huge second half coming up but Ulster will be happy and the body language will be good.

It wasn't a half without headaches for Ulster, but with three well-worked tries already in the bag, they can reasonably satisfied with their work over the first 40 minutes.

It's far from over, of course, but Ulster are undoubtedly playing with more pace, verve and attacking flair than last week against Bath.

Well, well, well. Hands up who saw that scoreline coming? No-one?

Ulster clinical, taking points on almost all visits to the Racing 22. Nick Timoney, Stuart McCloskey and Matty Rea with the scores.

Racing have had numerous chances but failed to come away with points on almost all occassions. They have a solitary try courtesy of their player-of-the-match so far, Nolann Le Garrec.

Now, Ulster have lost from a winning half-time position the last three weeks, can they turn that form on its head?

    Matty Rea (38 mins)

Carnival rugby from the home side in Brazilian colours!

Mike Lowry sets them in motion with a beauty of a missed pass out to Jacob Stockdale on the left wing. After recycling towards the middle of the park and an impressive carry from Steven Kitshoff, James Hume whips a wide ball out to Rea on the right wing and the big man trots over the line unopposed.

    Cooney again with the extras.

The conversion is missed by Antoine Gibert as the ball rather unfortunately topples off the tee just before contact.

A timely score from big Stu McCloskey, just when Ulster's mistakes were starting to let Racing into the game.

Breathing room for the hosts, but Racing will be encouraged by the openings they've been able to fashion over the last 10 minutes or so.

Former Ireland flanker on BBC Radio Ulster

There are a few errors creeping in from Ulster. The lack of urgency to a few of those breakdowns is concerning, defensively we are a wee bit all over the place.

It has been high pace from Ulster, they are certainly bringing themselves to the game with the collisions. The players need to keep feeding off the fans.

  17. Close!published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Ulster get away with one.

Scrum-half Nolann Le Garrec weaving through the home defence, making his way into the Ulster 22.

It takes a lunging Tom Stewart tackle to stop him and the flier then drops the ball when attempting an offload.

Surely more tries to come in this end-to-end tie.

Now it's Jacob Stockdale with the bone-crunching tackle. This time Henry Arundell is on the receiving end.

Racing then pinged for holding on and its another kick to the corner.

    But the lineout is lost.
