I expected a bit more from Ireland but they are starting to click as the second half goes on.

  2. Off the markpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    HT: Ireland 19-0 Italy

That was actually Jack Crowley's first try in senior rugby.

He hadn't scored for Munster in almost 50 appearances, so this isn't a bad place to mark that milestone!

I suspect that won't be the last.

  4. 'Three tries and Italy offering very little threat'published at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    HT: Ireland 19-0 Italy.

    Paddy Wallace
Former Ulster and Ireland centre on BBC Radio Ulster

You can't complain about that first half from Ireland. Three tries and Ireland have kept Italy quiet. There are definitely some 'work-ons' such as decision-making but, all-in-all, Ireland will be happy with the opening 40.

  5. Half-timepublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 19-0 Italy

Italy do win the throw and do clear. It's sent into the stands and that will do us for the first-half.

  6. Postpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 19-0 Italy

We've time for a restart and Ryan Baird makes up 30 metres with a surging run!

That was some run from the big back row. Majestic.

The kick goes int other corner and Italy are under pressure to win their own throw.

  7. 'A good, dirty try from the pack'published at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 19-0 Italy

    Paddy Wallace
Former Ulster and Ireland centre on BBC Radio Ulster

Great patience from the Ireland pack to work that over the line. They did well not to get focused on the try line individually and work it back to someone in a better position and there's no stopping Conan from there.

  8. try

Try - Ireland 19-0 Italypublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Jack Conan (con Crowley)

The maul did work but Sheehan was brought down.

Finlay Bealham went close but Jack Conan makes no mistake as he burrows over the line!

He's a big lad and Italy couldn't stop him from there. That's his 10th try for Ireland!

Italy try to charge down Crowley's conversion but the fly-half is unflustered and it's straight between the posts.

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

Ireland now have a penalty, which is turning into a bit of a theme.

Jack Crowley sends the kick about eight metres out.

    Maul time?

  10. 'Farrell won't be pleased with aspects of Ireland's game'published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

    Paddy Wallace
Former Ulster and Ireland centre on BBC Radio Ulster

I don't think the Ireland coach will be overly happy with how scrappy they have been playing. The handling has been good but their kicking has not been accurate and their exit strategy, which is usually a weapon, has been poor.

  11. Postpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

We've only five minutes to go before the interval. Can Ireland grab a third try before half-time?

  12. Postpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

Ireland win the line-out but superb counter-rucking from Italy means they almost steal the ball, but skipper Lamaro just knocks it on and Ireland will have the scrum again.

And Ireland win the penalty from the scrum.

It's just not going Italy's way at the moment. Crowley brings the hosts up to about 30 metres out.

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

Ange Capuozzo is almost through but Craig Casey pulls off a big tackle ot stop the full-back in his tracks.

He burst through Sheehan and Conan, but the scrum-half was there to snuff out any danger.

Italy recycle the ball but another handling error takes a bit of pressure off Ireland.

But Ireland pinch the ball at the throw and can clear once again.

James Ryan is hit hard, but fair, by winger Pani but he holds onto the ball and Ireland can clear.

Just as Ireland have Italy cornered again, they give away a penalty and Garbisi sends the ball just outside the 22.

  17. Postpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

Italy win a penalty and clear up to halfway.

It's not the best line-out but Garbisi gathers before he is gobbled up by Irish shirts.

Another box kick is charged down and Ireland are piling the pressure on their opponents now!

  18. 'Great handling from Ireland'published at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

    Paddy Wallace
Former Ulster and Ireland centre on BBC Radio Ulster

A brilliant line from Hugo Keenan set that try up but it's some wonderful, selfless handling from the Ireland backs to put Sheehan over in the corner.

Ireland look really slick when they get going.

  19. Postpublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Ireland 12-0 Italy

Jack Crowley is playing with some confidence now.

There was a no-look pass to feed Keenan earlier in the move, and the offload to Henshaw was sublime.

The conversion wasn't half bad either.

  20. try

Try - Ireland 12-0 Italypublished at 15:26 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February

    Dan Sheehan (con Crowley)

Two tries in two matches for the hooker!

Crowley was involved again as he finds Henshaw with a superb offload.

Henshaw feeds Stuart McCloskey and the big centre in turn finds Sheehan in the corner.

He took his time in touching it down, but that's a big score from the Irish.

Crowley lands the conversion from the tee.
