That was a close one wasn't it?! It just wasn't meant to be for Toby Booth's men but they gave it their all so they can be proud of that!

Lots to work on for Sean Everitt's Edinburgh ahead of their South African tour but a win is a win!

That's all from me tonight, we will be back tomorrow afternoon with coverage of Glasgow Warriors as they take on Benetton in Treviso!

Stay safe and hope to see you all tomorrow!

  2. 'Massive air of disappointment'published at 22:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March

    FT: Edinburgh 19-15 Ospreys

Ospreys head coach Toby Booth also spoke to Viaplay:

"There's obviously a massive air of disappointment and that's a sign of a team that wants to get better which is good. I think we played a good physical game but you need to be clinical if you want to be a play off team. We can't ourselves a mountain to climb and the penalty count in the first half made it difficult. We didn't take our chances and as a result we didn't win key moments. We gave them easy scores due to our ill discipline in the first half. If you look at the progress from when we were here last year to where we are now then there has been a lot of progress. The fact that the changing room is so disappointed shows that we've got the right people on the bus.

"You need repetition and mimic the pressures you're under in the game to be more clinical. Obviously with injuries and other bits and pieces we're behind where we'd like to be. In the key moments you find out what decisions you've made, that's part of growing and out of every loss or poor performance you can see the opportunities to improve. With 90 seconds to go we had a chance to win the game

"It was out of my hands by that point but that's the life of a coach. I was massively proud of the character and the effort to get us back in there, Keelan Giles for example. I thought we were smart in the second half, we won a lot of the scrap battles in the first but when we got to that final third, you just need to be a bit more clinical. We had a couple of opportunities, if you couple that with the probably 12 points in penalties we gave away it makes it very difficult. We got there but we couldn't get over the line.

"There's two teams who are ambitious and want to improve and that's a great thing for a coach to have. The mark of improvement is that people want to be successful and your group has to represent that both in how it deals with success but also defeat. I think the signs are good."

  3. 'Happy we got the result'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March

    FT: Edinburgh 19-15 Ospreys

Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt spoke to Viaplay after the game:

"I'm getting used to this feeling after the game, we've had it a few times earlier in the season. I'm just happy that we got another win, wins are so important at this point to stay in touch with the guys at the top. Obviously the performance we are not happy with.

"It's not that great for us in the coach's box but it's just pleasing to see, we trained that defensive play at the end all week. If the guys prepare well you're able to get the ball and the score in your favour at the end of the game. Happy we got the result.

"It was tough in the conditions today but we did get our opportunities and it was a lot more slippery in the first half. I think the wind dried it up a bit in the second half and i thought we did quite well in the first half. I think the line break of Matt Currie, we managed to finish that off and get a good try. I think when your set piece, your maul isn't functioning as it should that's where our problem is, we had three opportunities to get over from a maul. We just couldn't get it over and credit to Ospreys for stopping it.

"We knew that the first choice front row from Ospreys was going to be formidable, we saw what they did to Ulster a couple of weeks ago. I think it was just a matter of time before fatigue set in. I thought Boan [Venter] and Javan [Sebastian] when he came on for WP Nel did really well. Those were very important penalties for us and it was about converting those penalties into points and that's what we're doing at the moment.

"Ben Healy did very very well and like I said sometimes you need to win that way and in the conditions tonight that was the difference between the two teams. We got ourselves into a position like I said if we could just be better in our completion of our mauls, the score would've been bigger.

"Harry Paterson has been great for us and that's why he got his Scottish debut in the Six Nations against France. He works incredibly hard on his game, he stopped a certain try in the first half. He's a youngster so has a lot of energy but the whole team pride ourselves on hard work. There was a lot of effort tonight again, you won't see Edinburgh boys walking around the field and being sluggish, it's something we pride ourselves on. We want to be a resilient team which we showed in the scoreboard tonight by getting the win.

  4. 'Frustrating game'published at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March

    FT: Edinburgh 19-15 Ospreys

Player of the Match Hamish Watson spoke to Viaplay on the whistle:

"It was a very frustrating game. I thought we controlled the first half very well, we sort of stuck to our game plan, kicked well and put a lot of pressure on the Ospreys. The second half we started well but then our kick plan and our attack sort of went stagnant and they scored a decent try and we gave away a few too many turnovers.

"We knew they're a really good team, they're on a roll so we knew it was going to be tough today and they weren't going to go away easy. Credit to Ospreys they were good tonight but it was one of those game you come off the field and it feels a tiny bit like a loss but it's still a win and four points.

"Really scrappy, we got that down pour of rain in the warm up so that's why there were so many errors. On the artificial turf the water just sits on the top so that wasn't ideal. Our set piece was really good up until we probably got to 10 meters out then we had a couple of opportunities where our line-out didn't go to plan. There is a lot to work on for us, we've got a week off next week then a training week and the tour of South Africa which is going to be really tough. We have a lot to do but like I said it's four points and we're in the right half of the table."

Gutting for Ospreys as they came alive in the second half but that Edinburgh defence was just too strong and caused the Welshmen to crack under the pressure.

It wasn't all good from the hosts however as they too missed a few chances that they can't afford to do when they travel to South Africa for their double header against Stormers and Sharks.

Ben Healy was the difference in attack for the Scots as Hamish Watson put in an outstanding defensive shift in the back row.
