Ospreys defence coach Mark Jones speaking on BBC Radio Wales: "I'm very proud of the effort, we didn't lack in effort.

"Giving away as many penalties as we did tonight, it was always going to be tough away from home.

"We probably deserved to come out on the losing side of things based on the penalty count.

"We don't feel we were the best version of ourselves tonight, we didn't play as well as we could've done.

"That doesn't take anything away from Gloucester, they were accurate in their game plan and capitalised on our mistakes.

"We prepared well, but unfortunately we couldn't quite grasp it tonight, but we'll work on it and come back again."

When Toby Booth analyses this game, I think he'll find they lost a lot of those little battles.

It only takes the odd mistake and you're punished in European rugby.

The Ospreys were strangled, they were being penalised in scrums and they couldn't really get out of their own half.

A brave display from the Ospreys, but they were out-muscled in the end by this Gloucester side.

It will be Gloucester who go through to the European Challenge Cup semi-final after a confident victory over Ospreys.

The home side have controlled the second half. Full-back Santi Carreras kicked six penalties and Seb Blake scored a try.

Ospreys still have not reached a European semi-final and Welsh interest in both tournaments for this season has ended.

Gloucester will have a home tie against Benetton or Connacht on the opening weekend of May.

The flow has lacked from the Ospreys in this second half, it will take something really special now.

Ospreys have looked pretty shapeless in the second half and never looked like breaking down the Gloucester defence. A wayward forward pass from Adam Beard sums up their night.

Fly-half Dan Edwards, lock Huw Sutton and scrum-half Luke Davies come on for James Ratti, Owen Williams and Reuben Morgan-Williams but they do not have much chance to make an impression. Replacement full-back Max Nagy has looked threatening, though, at times.

Ospreys need to try keep up some intensity, keep the ball in that Gloucester 22 and get back in this game.

Gloucester scrum-half Stephen Varney has kicked well tonight and the Welsh-born Italy scrum-half is growing with every game.

He set the platform for Gloucester to almost score a second try but wing Jake Morris is denied in the corner by Luke Morgan. It's all Gloucester.

The Ospreys have just lost their shape a little.

There was no chase on that penalty, I'm just questioning the intensity a bit, the Ospreys need to pick it back up.
