Derek McInnes remains "really calm" about Aberdeen's current form and insists his side can improve in the Premiership this season.

The Scottish Professional Football League indicated earlier today that all of the scheduled festive fixtures would be going ahead.

And Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald, whose side travel to face Ross County on Friday, said: "As far as we are concerned the game is on and we will go with that. All we have had is the weather warnings.

"It's the fans you feel for, the timing of it, the journey, and the dangerous weather conditions.

"My viewpoint is, if it's a danger for the fans, it shouldn't be on. But it's a decision that has got to be made early.

"As long as people know in advance and people aren't travelling and risking their safety for no reason."

MSPs voice "serious concerns" over pay, contracts and agents in Scotland's youth football system after questioning the game's chiefs.

Celtic forward Kris Commons, 33, joined Hibernian on an emergency loan last week and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has yet to decide whether that loan should be extended.

"I'll sit with Kris, I'll talk to [Hibs head coach] Neil [Lennon] and between us all we'll come up with the best solution for Kris," said Rodgers.

"At his age he needs to be playing games."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes artificial surfaces affect the quality of football that is played on them.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits to being flattered after he was linked with the vacant England Under-21s job but insists he has "a big job in hand" at Ibrox.

"It's very flattering to be linked to a job, especially a job of that stature, but it's a privilege to be manager here at Rangers," he said.

"Any coach starting out on the rung has to think, 'How high can I go?' What is the dream job? Of course any manager will say [managing their country] is.

"You're talking about the highest elite level of management. But right now I've got a fantastic job here. [Assistant manager] Davie Weir and I have a job here and we're looking forward to doing it.

"We've got a big job in hand to do at this club and we're delighted to be here."

Ahead of his first trip to Hamilton's Superseal Stadium, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says artificial surfaces affect the quality of football played on them,

Rodgers acknowledges why clubs in Scotland use artificial pitches, but insists they "aren't ideal" for players or supporters.

"I've yet to see a good game on a plastic pitch," Rodgers said. "Any coach or manager will tell you it's always a different game on a plastic pitch.

"I respect the conditions for every club are different. Hamilton are a club that has produced many great young players, so they have a way of working that works for them and that's fine.

"In global football, most people will tell you that plastic pitches aren't ideal, and that's where you feel for supporters because are they seeing the best game of football possible? But we have to be professional and get the job done. 

"It's about going there and getting a result. It brings lots of different elements to the game, unpredictability you wouldn't see in normal circumstances. I've seen numbers of games on plastic pitches, I've been involved in numbers of games on plastic pitches, and I've yet to see a good one."

Left-back Steven Hammell is back in contention for Motherwell following a hamstring injury while teenage striker Dylan Mackin will be added to Mark McGhee's squad.

Peter Pawlett is the only doubt for Aberdeen. The midfielder has a slight strain but is in the travelling party to Fir Park.

St Johnstone attacker Michael Coulson will miss Friday night's Premiership trip to Kilmarnock after suffering a calf injury while fellow striker Steven MacLean will also sit out the Rugby Park clash because of a long-standing knee complaint which prevents him from playing on plastic pitches.

Kilmarnock hope to have striker Kris Boyd back in their squad following more than two months out with a thigh injury but defenders Scott Boyd, Miles Addison and Jonathan Burn are out, along with Dapo Kayode and Greg Kiltie.

Dundee midfielder Paul McGowan returns from suspension when the Dark Blues host Hearts at Dens Park.

Hearts midfielder Prince Buaben is doubtful as he undergoes treatment on a calf injury and winger Sam Nicholson is definitely out following knee surgery.
