  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 49 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

What can Celtic conjure up here? Willie Wallace and Stevie Chalmers are over the ball near the penalty spot. Every Inter player is crowded along the six yard box, about half the distance away they should be.

The ball is rolled back to Bertie Auld but his shot is charged down by the cluster of advancing blue and black shirts. It then falls to Tommy Gemmell, lurking at the edge of the box, and the full-back drills in a strike, which takes a slight deflection and is somehow stopped on the goal-line by Giuliano Sarti.

Celtic players are appealing that the ball crossed the line but it's another piece of fabulous goalkeeping.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 48 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

It's a familiar pattern as Celtic set off on the front foot.

Willie Wallace is tripped just outside the penalty box and Bertie Auld clips the free kick to the back post, where Stevie Chalmers nods the ball back across the six yard box but it's just too high for Wallace to get decent contact on it.

The referee's whistle sounds and Celtic fans go nuts thinking it's a penalty but Herr Tschenscher is signalling an indirect free kick for a high boot.

Can Celtic keep up their attacking endeavour and find a way back?

  5. The Lisbon pilgrimagepublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    Brian McLauchlin
BBC Sport Scotland at the Estadio Nacional

"Back in 1967 the team stayed at the Hotel Palacio, around a 45-minute drive out of the city. They were met then by 17-year-old concierge Jose Diego Viera. Now 67, he still welcomes guests at the front of the hotel.

Viera recalls: 'I remember when they arrived I helped take the players to their rooms with their bags. I also took some boxes with the kit. I asked them for a shirt and two days later the kitman gave me one. On the day I went to watch the game because someone from the team gave me a ticket. When the team returned with the cup there was lots of applause. It was a great time.'

Dermot Hill has made the pilgrimage back to the hotel where the team stayed, saying coming to the Hotel Palacio is fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

'This is on my bucket list! To see where Celtic stayed, we know the boys played football on the grass here, the concierge is still here. This is great to be here. I find it quite emotional. I was nine at the time. I watched it on a black and white telly. Here I am now and I can watch replays of it. We are having a big party in Lisbon. Here we go!'

Pat Kerr is also staying at the hotel and he has brought along some members of his family to join in the celebrations.

'I have stayed there before but this time I have brought my family. There are 17 of us and they want to know where did I sit and stand. So I'm going to take them and show them where I actually sat in the stadium. This is quite an emotional time for me. When you think of the heroes I supported. Especially big Jock. He was a man and a half.'"

  6. Celtic fans' 50th anniversary tributepublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

BBC Sport Scotland at the Estadio Nacional

"Fifty years ago today, thousands of Celtic fans descended on Lisbon to watch their heroes create football history and beat Italian giants Inter Milan to lift the European Cup.

There are many stories from fans, players, media and locals about what exactly happened back in '67'.

About 1,500 fans are now back to pay homage to the team who be became known as 'The Lisbon Lions'.

Pat Kerr, a publican from Motherwell, has made the journey back to the Portuguese capital after watching the team he loves lift the famous trophy 50 years ago. His story centres on his day trip to watch the final.

'We left Shotts at 3.00 in the morning,' explained Kerr. 'We travelled to Chapelhall then on to Airdrie to pick up other passengers but before heading to the airport we went to St Mirren's Cathedral in Paisley where the priest offered the mass for a Celtic victory. We then flew to Lisbon. We were in and out in a day and it cost us £24. A lot of money in those days. You could have gone to Majorca for a fortnight for £24!'"

  7. Can Inter last the pace?published at 18:24 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

    HT: Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

Jock Stein went on a spying mission to Turin last week and saw Inter lose to Juventus. We're hearing he was struck by the Juventus fans' reaction. They taunted the opposition players with chants of 'vecchia Inter' - 'old Inter'. And in training at the Estadio Nacional yesterday, with the Inter squad looking on, Stein made a point of making the players go through their routines at high intensity. Stein obviously believes his team is the fitter of the two, but just how much energy have they spent in that first half?

As the players make their way to the underground changing rooms, Jock Stein exchanges some angry words with the West German referee. He is furious about the penalty award. Jim Craig looked crestfallen when Kurst Tschenscher pointed to the spot after Renato Cappellini went down under his challenge. Big Jock is fizzing!

  9. All's not lost for Celticpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

Here's something to cheer Celtic fans up over the break. In six of the previous 11 European Cup finals, the team scoring first has lost.

It's been heartbreaking; not just for Celtic supporters but for all those who cherish attacking football. They must sustain their aggression in the second half, there is no other way

  11. HALF-TIME Inter Milan 1-0 Celticpublished at 45 mins

And there goes the half time whistle. Inter Milan lead thanks to an early penalty from Sandro Mazzola, following a trip on Renato Cappellini from Jim Craig.

Since then it's been all Celtic, with Bertie Auld hitting the crossbar and Tommy Gemmell denied by a brilliant save, while Jimmy Johnstone twice tested goalie Giuliano Sarti.

Is crafty Argentine Helenio Herrera is on his way to a third European Cup with the nerazzurri or can Celtic find a way through after the interval?

  12. No way through for Jinkypublished at 43 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

With half time approaching, influential winger Jimmy Johnstone is beginning to look a little frustrated.

Tarcisio Burgnich has stuck to him like glue and there just isn't any room to work in behind a deep-lying defence.

  13. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

Tommy Gemmell, with his socks rolled down at his ankles now, is playing like a left winger. Again, the full-back cuts in from the flank and has a dip but, again, he doesn't quite catch it, and it's an easy save for Giuliano Sarti.

Ronnie Simpson, who has largely been topping up his tan since that early penalty went in, is called into action again, racing from his area as Inter's Angelo Domenghini races after a long ball over the top. Simpson is calmness personified as he takes a touch, then backheels to covering defender John Clark.

Huge cheers of approval from the Celtic fans.

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

Bobby Murdoch doesn't look too happy when a free kick is given against him for obstruction. For the first time in a long while, Inter are in a hurry and it's taken quickly, with the ball laid off to Sandro Mazzola, but his raking shot is comfortably scooped up by Ronnie Simpson.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 34 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

Giuliano Sarti has been rock solid and that's his best save so far.

Tommy Gemmell takes a falling ball out of the sky first time and the left-back's rocket of a volley is dipping into the far corner before the outstretched hand of Sarti pushes it wide.

Gemmell, head in hands, can't believe that one isn't nestling in the back of the net.

  18. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

Bertie Auld pops the free kick into the heart of the penalty area with a nonchalant flick, using the outside of his boot. It falls for Bobby Murdoch to have a dig near the penalty spot but the midfielder slips just as he's shooting and his effort flies wide via a slight deflection.

  19. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Inter Milan 1-0 Celtic

The Italians continue to pack their own penalty area and there is just no way through as Jim Craig, then Jimmy Johnstone have efforts charged down in quick succession. Celtic then win a free kick for high feet on the right edge of the box. Can they profit from this situation?
