    Saracens 15-7 Glasgow

    Rory Lawson
Former Scotland captain on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It shows how good Saracens are that Glasgow's defence for large parts of that was excellent. It was just brilliant execution from the former European champions.

  2. try

Try - Saracens 15-7 Glasgowpublished at 24 mins

    David Strettle

Heads-up, switched-on rugby that Saracens have made their trademark.

Liam Williams hands off Adam Hastings and feeds Brad Barritt. His charge draws in full-back Stuart Hogg. Jamie George is the make-shift nine as the ball comes back quickly from the breakdown.

No worries. The hooker zips a mispass blind to David Strettle and the wing tiptoes down the touchline to dive in down the outside of a under-manned Glasgow defence.

  3. Replacementpublished at 23 mins

    Saracens 10-7 Glasgow

Scott Cummings is off for Glasgow with Jonny Gray into the second row.

  4. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Saracens 10-7 Glasgow

Saracens' breakdown crew are tardy once again.

Will Skelton goes into contact, but Glasgow are on the scene to secure the turnover while their Saracens counterparts are dawdling.

The hosts are wasting good field position because of that problem...

  5. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Saracens 10-7 Glasgow

Stuart Hogg's howitzer of a kick sails out on the full after Ali Price had passed back to him in the 22m.

Glasgow back under the cosh through a needless error.

  6. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Saracens 10-7 Glasgow

A superb piece of breakdown burglary by Glasgow in the shadow of their own posts.

Kyle Steyn and Matt Fagerson clamp down over the top of Alex Lozowski to earn a pressure-relieving penalty.

  7. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Saracens 10-7 Glasgow

Saracens are building some momentum. Their aerial game is earning easy yards as Rory Hughes spills an Alex Goode cross-field bomb under pressure from the chase...

  8. Penalty - Saracens 10-7 Glasgowpublished at 14 mins

    Alex Lozowski

Saracens hit the front for the first time as Alex Lozowski slots from straight in front.

  9. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Saracens 7-7 Glasgow

Saracens go close, but George Kruis cannot haul in Alex Goode's offload off the floor. We are heading back for a knock-on from Sam Johnson anyway...

By the way, Maro Itoje indulges in a little bit of the bubbly stuff, feinting to chip over the top before charging into contact instead.

  10. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Saracens 7-7 Glasgow

Ben Spencer's box-kicking could not be better plotted if he has outsourced the trajectory to Nasa's number bods in Houston.

Two precise parabolas move Saracens up towards halfway after a bit of Glasgow pressure.

  11. 'End to end'published at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March 2019

    Saracens 7-7 Glasgow

    Topsy Ojo
    London Irish back

If both teams can keep this up, we're in for a brilliant day. It's end to end so we need to see now if one team can take hold of the game and make the most of the momentum.

  12. try

Converted try - Saracens 7-7 Glasgowpublished at 5 mins

    Liam Williams (con Lozowski)

    Straight back atcha!

Saracens land an immediate riposte. With Nigel Owens indicating a penalty advantage to the hosts, Alex Goode chips the free ball over the Glasgow defence for Liam Williams to compete for.

The Welshman is basically Biggles he is so good in the air. A clean take and he lands over the line to give Alex Lozowski a gimme of a conversion.

  13. 'Brilliant footwork'published at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March 2019

    Saracens 0-7 Glasgow

    Topsy Ojo
    London Irish and ex-England back

It's brilliant footwork from Stuart Hogg. It's a great start, exactly what Glasgow needed to give them confidence and belief that they can put on a show here.

  14. try

Converted try - Saracens 0-7 Glasgowpublished at 1 min

    Ali Price (con Hastings)

Less than two minutes on the clock!

What a start by the visitors. They cut the Saracens defence to ribbons with Stuart Hogg straightening the line, drawing a defender and feeding wing Rory Hughes.

Saracens cover defence comes haring across, but Hughes flips the basketball pass inside and Ali Price saunters in.

    Extras from Hastings.

"We spent a lot of time looking at them and getting clarity around where their strengths are.

"We’re really clear coming into this that we’re going to have to be good both sides of the ball.

"Stuart Hogg is massive for us. It’s not just his speed and attacking ability – it’s the quality of his kicking game."

Saracens head coach Mark McCall on BT Sport:

"Owen’s wife went into labour last night and we wish them all the best.

"Obviously it’s a huge day for them as a family and it looks like we’ll be without him for today. Family always comes first.

"Alex Goode’s been playing fly-half for us for the last five weeks and Liam Williams is a good replacement at 15."

  19. 'Saracens away is the hardest in Europe'published at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 March 2019

    Saracens v Glasgow (15:15 GMT)

Glasgow's Sam Johnson:"Having had that taste of international experience, as any rugby player wants to, playing at the highest level, it doesn’t get much higher in the club game than playing this weekend against Saracens.”

“It’s probably the hardest in Europe, isn’t it? They are a great team, they have been for years. They are going to come out all guns blazing with that power game. We’re going to go down there and do our best to win.

"To out-physical Saracens you need to be mentally prepared for it because if you’re not mentally prepared, not 100%, you’re going to come out second best."
