I sneaked in to the practice area just before play and saw John Higgins in there with his son, he looked to be in a positive mood with the two sharing a joke.

There was no sign of Mark Williams, but he had probably already been in a little earlier.

Bilkowalker: DIY done. BBQ done. Now the ideal way to end the Bank holiday. The Crucible. Come on Higgy!

Anthony Kernich: If Williams wins in the final this year, I reckon that would be the perfect way to call it a career.

  6. Higgins rues mistakespublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 7 May 2018

Frame 18: John Higgins 7-10 Mark Williams (first to 18)

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion told BBC Sport

It was close until 7-7 but the last frame was pivotal for 10-7. It is going to be a fantastic session again today and the climax tonight. Williams holds the advantage, both players are looking great.

Williams will be delighted at the lead and it is a huge one, it puts Higgins on the back foot and it is a session he must win. If he does not, then the three-frame gap will be too much going in to tonight.

Higgins has probably scored heavier than Williams but he has made one mistake here and there in frames, mistakes that he would not really make and Williams is picking them up. If he can cut those out, it will go close.
