Frame 28: John Higgins 12-15 Mark Williams (first to 18)

A red from Williams rattles around the jaws of the pocket, but agonisingly for him, it stays on the cloth. A half-chance for Higgins, but not an easy one. 0-48

    Higgins

How important could that last frame prove to be?

Higgins has now won five of the last six and Williams looks like he is suffered from the dreaded Crucible nerves...

  7. 'Higgins throws a hand grenade'published at 19:42 British Summer Time 7 May 2018

Frame 27: John Higgins 12-15 Mark Williams (first to 18)

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

John Higgins has thrown a hand grenade into Mark Williams' brain. That is the worst feeling in the world when someone does that to you. What a clearance! That's one of the best we've ever seen.

Mark Williams has great resolve but it's easy to panic in finals as the frames slip away from you.

Kev Cunningham: That was the most John Higgins clearance I’ve ever seen John Higgins make.

James Hollands: This afternoon about 4pm John Higgins was seven frames behind and playing for pride. Now he is only three frames behind and playing for the title! What a final we have now.

  9. Higgins steals itpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 7 May 2018

    Frame 27: John Higgins 12-15 Mark Williams (68-58, Higgins 67, Williams 58)

A great, great steal. For the second time in five frames John Higgins wins it on the black.

A wonderful clearance of 67 after coming to the table 1-58 behind. A body blow for Williams, but let's not forget he is still the man in the lead, but that lead is now down to three.

The yellow has gone, the blue (on the yellow spot) could still be a problem for Higgins. This is crucial.

Calamity: This entire fortnight has had some of the best snooker I've seen for a long time. I've been glued to the whole competition (much to my wife's annoyance) from day one. And to top it all, a brilliant final.

Absolutely fantastic break from John Higgins. He's showing courage and bottle here and this is exactly what he would have wanted at the start of this session.
