    Frame 18: Selby 10-7 Murphy

He's not changed tack too much so far, Ken.

Shaun Murphy is patiently waiting for his opportunity in a tense safety exchange.

The trouble is that wait can be a very long one when you're playing Mark Selby.

    It's a real balancing act.

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

It was tough to watch at times but it’s an absolute masterclass in snooker matchplay. Mark is making it as hard for his opponent as possible, he’s trying to capitalise on his mistakes.

He froze his opponent out. Selby has sucked Shaun into his game and Shaun should not even be entertaining that.

I take my hat off to Selby for the way he’s played – he’s doing him in and he’s going to win the World Championship if he continues playing like that.

Shaun has to change his game, otherwise this World Championship is over.

  3. 'Final of two halves so far'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 18: Selby 10-7 Murphy

    Judd Trump
World number one on BBC Two

It’s been a game of two halves so far. Shaun Murphy played some unbelievable stuff in the first session, he put some real pressure on Mark from the outset with his long potting, and he’s going to have do some more of that today.

But Mark was amazing in the evening session – he just did a job on Shaun. Mark isn’t renowned for his long potting but it was incredible last night, he was creating chances from nothing.

    Frame 18: Selby 10-7 Murphy

We're under way and Shaun Murphy is in first.

He pots a red and yellow but has to play safe.

A very important first frame for him this afternoon - there behind is tough enough, four and it begins to become a mountain to climb.

The concluding sessions of the Snooker World Championship will mark a special moment on the calendar with a capacity crowd returning to a UK sporting event for the first time in over a year.

As expected there should not be an empty seat in the house, with Monday's two sessions selling out on Sunday.

The atmosphere with a 980-capacity crowd inside the Crucible feels special and it is a step closer to normality for many of the fans here today.

The appetite of fans is such, that tickets for the 2022 edition, which went on sale on Monday morning, have now also sold-out.

    Selby 10-7 Murphy

Shaun Murphy is adamant the final is not over, however. He did recover from 10-4 down against Kyren Wilson in the semi-finals after all.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "I think I have showed in the semi-final I can win when I am down.

"This match is a long way from being over."

Those of you who said Stuart Bingham in response to that teaser, take a bow.

That was back in 2015. And the runner-up that day? Shaun Murphy, who will be hoping to avoid the same fate today.

But he has plenty of work to do on that score.
