Luca Brecel has got to get his game back quickly. Zhao Xintong is a very good frontrunner and can win frames very quickly.

    Frame five: Brecel 2-2 Zhao

An outrageous fluke gets Zhao Xintong going but he misses the black.

Mistake central at the moment. And just to prove it Luca Brecel leaves Zhao in aftyer a wild effort into the top left bucket.

  3. Postpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2021

    Frame five: Brecel 2-2 Zhao

Oh he has caught that thick. Luca Brecel just wanted to snick the red on the top cushion but drags it back down the table with the white.

Zhao Xintong has a pot on the same red into the top left corner but misses left without leaving it.

Brecel can't believe it but and makes exactly the same mistake again. Zhao again can't take advantage.

The first sign of tension from the players.

Both players playing pots with safety in mind.

Zhao Xintong sees a long red to the top right pocket bounce in the jaws and trickle safe, while Luca Brecel tries to flash one in the middle.

    Fascinating stuff.

Key shot. Can Zhao Xintong get down in behind the reds or knock them out off the yellow? No. It's just a break of 47.

There's still life in this frame.

Zhao Xintong isn't hanging around. He's on a break of 38 before slamming the pink into the left middle.

Luca Brecel is very much hoping that three reds down the right rail come to his rescue.

    Frame five: Brecel 2-2 Zhao

Luca Brecel breaks down on 12 and plays safe. Has he left something on here? It looks like Zhao Xintong can just about get past the green to take on a long red. Which he knocks in.

Nothing doing there mind and Brecel gets back to the table. He tries to force a red into the right corner. This is an opening for Zhao.

    Frame five: Brecel 2-2 Zhao

Zhao Xintong floats a brilliant long red into the bottom left corner and follows that up with a black, that goes slightly awry.

He's got a tricky one to the left middle.

Barry [Hawkins] and I have played a few times. We both know the ropes. We have seen with his run this week he is in good form.

I will have to make sure my game is in a bit better shape otherwise he will go through me very easily.

Master of ceremonies Rob Walker with a bit of a joke in there about amateurs when Shaun Murphy was drawn out.

Not sure it went down that well with the Magician, who says "that's an interesting way for Rob Walker to announce his resignation from the BBC."

Two young talents maybe battling it out for the UK Championship title but even when he is not involved it is hard to forget about Ronnie O'Sullivan, especially on his birthday.

And it looks like he has come up trumps for those with an appetite in the press room...

    Mid-session interval: Brecel 2-2 Zhao

    Shaun Murphy
    2005 World champion

I don't think it will be a late night like last year because neither of these two players have it in their locker to throw the anchor down.

They are both very fluent players, it could be 10-9 on the black and be finished around 21:30 GMT.
