    That, in a nutshell, is what happened to Andy Murray's fourth-round Australian Open opponent Stephane Robert. The Frenchman, ranked 119, lost in qualifying and was all set to leave Melbourne when German Philipp Kohlschreiber withdrew through injury, giving Robert a reprieve and a place in the main draw as a "lucky loser". He's made the most of the opportunity, already going two rounds further than his previous best at a Grand Slam. The man is on a roll.

    You know what it's like. You're sitting around doing that bit of admin you've been trying to catch up on for ages when the phone rings. Should you answer it? Yeah, may as well, the paperwork's pretty boring, you'd welcome the distraction.

    Stephane Robert did exactly that at Melbourne Park last Tuesday and this, more or less, is the conversation that followed.

    "Hello, Stephane speaking."

    "Hi, tournament referee here. You know how you lost in qualifying and are already out? Well, scrap that, you're back in. And we need you on Court Seven. In five minutes."

    "Hold on, it sounded like you said five minutes?!"
