Amelie Mauresmo is today's contestant on 'who wants to be a Wimbledon champion's coach?' after being spotted watching Andy Murray in action yesterday. There is no confirmation that the two have even been in contact, but Franck Ramella of L'Equipe has given us some background on Mauresmo's coaching credentials.

"She's not very well recognised in France, considering everything she has done has turned to gold. When she became Fed Cup captain she really wanted Marion Bartoli because she wanted a strong team, and Bartoli didn't want to play. There were lots of arguments with the French Federation. It was the most impossible task and Mauresmo managed to do it. Then she was one of the key factors with Bartoli at Wimbledon because she had no coach.

"So Bartoli wins Wimbledon and France begins to win Fed Cup matches, which was not the case for a lot of years. She also worked with Michael Llodra, which shows she can work with men. In France, people were saying why can't she be Davis Cup captain? She was one of the names in the discussion."

  18. Mauresmo a perfect match for Murray?published at 14:34 British Summer Time 28 May 2014

There continues to be conjecture over who Andy Murray will choose as his next coach, with the Scot jokingly saying on Tuesday: "Nobody wants to work with me".

Amelie Mauresmo is another name recently added to the long list of possibles after the Frenchwoman was spotted watching the Wimbledon Champion's first-round match.

"I'd be quite surprised if it was Amelie but anything is possible," said Mary Pierce on BBC Radio 5 live. "I did notice that she was watching his match yesterday and I thought to myself 'why is Amelie watching this match?'. You never know but we'll know soon won't we?"
