Petra Kvitova is tucking into the Eugenie Bouchard serve like it's 15:00 BST Sunday and there is a roast out the oven.

It has been brutal bordering on the ugly out there. Kvitova has injected 10mph more into her groundstrokes than any of Bouchard's previous opponents and it is making the Canadian look like she is wading through syrup around the court.

Another break and, if the barrage continues, she won't be getting it back.

"There is just no let-up for Bouchard. She struggled to get a read on Kvitova's serve but when she is serving Petra is all over it."

A hold to love from Petra Kvitova. The good news for Eugenie Bouchard? Her Czech foe has been a bit fragile in the top six inches in the past.

The bad news? There is not much sign of it yet and there wasn't when she won the title in 2011 either.

"Bouchard has to hang with Kvitova and hope she starts to wobble as she gets closer to the win. She's been outplayed in that first set, but she won't go away. She has to keep the depth on her groundstrokes."

A witness protection programme couldn't protect Eugenie Bouchard's serve right now. Petra Kvitova is hunting it down where she tries to stow it in the service box.

The Czech lunges wide to bop a backhand return winner for 0-40 and three sets points.

A flayed forehand is wide of the mark off Bouchard's next serve, but she stretched the Canadian out of shape in the next rally to tie up the opener. Thirty two minutes on the clock.

Off the ropes and back on the front foot. Eugenie Bouchard is suddenly finding some angles to deny Petra Kvitova the chance to load up and unleash.

She steals serve against the head to stay alive in the set.

Eugenie Bouchard is probably wishing she was back playing the girls' singles final like she was in 2012.

Having been in control of all her matches through to the final, she is in danger of being blown through the backboards here by power she hasn't seen all fortnight.

The ball hops up shoulder high on the baseline and Petra Kvitova doesn't need a second invite. A monster forehand and a break to 15.

"We have spent the whole tournament watching Bouchard dictate play but so far today all we have seen is her trying to react to Kvitova who is in control at the moment."

Big sweeping backswing, explosive impact through the ball, you probably don't need to worry about the follow-through Petra because there isn't much chance of the ball coming back over the net.

Massive hitting off both wings and Petra Kvitova is holding her serve with consummate ease compared to her opponent.

    Lindsay Davenport
1999 Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

"What Bouchard does well is taking the ball early but it's not easy to do that against Kvitova, so right now she needs to continue playing her own game and go for it when she can taking Kvitova out of her strike zone."

Eugenie Bouchard is fighting on instinct at the moment amid a blizzard of heavy groundstrokes from the other end.

Petra Kvitova booms her way to 15-40 and two break points. Bouchard plays canny tennis, keeping her opponent on the run to salvage both.

The Canadian targets the backhand wing with some spitting pace to save a third from deuce.

Bouchard makes it home with her serve intact, but Kvitova is like a bull in a china shop on return right now - plenty of unpredictable power and only a matter of time before it causes some expensive damage.

Marion Bartoli is in the posh seats to see her successor crowned.

Eugenie Bouchard has said that she won't be happy unless she is the one dead-lifting the bulky Venus Rosewater dish come this afternoon.

She makes it to deuce with a lovely return winner, reading the Kvitova serve like a primary-school ABC.

But that is sublime by Kvitova. All the pre-match chatter about her fierce forehand, but when she is tickling cross-court drop replies like that off the other wing, you know you are in trouble.

Shot of the match so far to seal the game.
