  7. Tie-breakpublished at 11:34 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    *Djokovic 6-1 7-5 6-6 (5-1) Murray

Another humdinger of a Djokovic serve. Straight down the middle, Murray gets string on it, but it is too powerful.

Murray wipes the sweat from his forehead.

His serve just makes it in and then he slices a backhand winner. One point gained.

But another double fault. Murray is not happy. Nerves are kicking in.

    Djokovic 6-1 7-5 6-6 (3-0) Murray*

Djokovic serve...numero uno...an ace straight down the T. Hawkeye confirms that and is greeted by a round of applause. His second? A brief scuffle ends in Murray whacking a weak forehand into the tape. Djoko is coasting towards game, set and match.

Murray's first serve hits the net. Bam.

A very late call and it's a double fault. Murray challenges but it was out. Not a great start for the Briton.

We never said breaking that Djokovic serve would be easy. The world number one eases to 40-0 with his fifth ace of the match, but then leaves the back door open for Murray. The Briton tiptoes in like a cat burglar, planting in a backhand volley for 40-30. But Muzza blinks first in a long rally as Djokovic hangs on to send this third set into a tie-break...

Murray to serve first in the breaker...

The longer this match goes on, the better Andy Murray's serving is becoming. Virtually flawless from the Briton who slings down a couple of second serve winners, taking his win percentage to 38% on those points, That again moves him within one game of taking this match into a fourth set.

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"There's very little between these two from the baseline. If Murray wins this set, it could eek away from Djokovic."

Plenty of manic grinning from Andy Murray. Usually after he has been unable to get anywhere near a Djokovic winner. The Serb's serve is left relatively untroubled by the Briton - to the delight of a man in the Rod Laver Arena crowd wearing a T-shirt with Novak's shadowy face on the front and a Serbian flag draped over his shoulders.

Andrew Speakman: The flawed passionate brilliance of Murray v the cold robotic genius of Djokovic. Compelling, but only going one way. Surely?

Joe McCormack: Andy Murray beginning the best comeback since that of the Rolling Stones?

A strong service game from Murray to which Djokovic has few answers. That puts the Briton within another game of taking this match into a fourth set. The problem? He has to break Djokovic's serve to clinch it.

    Djokovic 6-1 7-5 4-4 Murray*

Murray volleys his way back to 15-15, then levels again when Djokovic double faults for 30-30. Last time the Serb double faulted he produced another straight after.

Not this time. Although he adopts a rather conservative approach, going out wide with a cautious delivery, it goes unpunished by Murray. That helps Djokovic secure his hold seconds later.

Toby McMaster: Come on Murray, not over 'til it's over. One break and you're back in this.

Ben Wear: Thanks Andy, I was about to do something productive with my day, but you've just started the greatest comeback ever.

Murray partially eases the intense pressure as he moves ahead in the third set for the first time. Excellent stuff from the second seed as he leads 40-15, wrapping up the game when Djokovic cracks a forehand way past the baseline. A glimmer of hope?
