Scatter! That didn't last long. The heavens open over SW19, forcing Nick Kyrgios and Dustin Brown to run for cover. Brollies are up, pac-a-macs are unscrunched. 

The Great Entertainers managed just three points before play was stopped, but there was still time for fun as the players knocked up. 

The Aussie Fanatics, the vocal green and gold band of Kyrgios brothers, started oohing and aahing every shot - leaving the crowd and both players chuckling. And Brown had everyone cheering again by lobbing up a ball into one of the Fanatics' hand. 

If the match - when it finally restarts - is half as fun then we'll all be happy. 

Gabriel Cancello: How about a massive dome over the entire site like Mr Burns built over Springfield in the Simpsons movie.

Or just relocate the whole thing to the Eden Project in Cornwall. The grass should grow well in there at least.

"Let's go and find somewhere quiet to go and practice," thinks Andy Murray.

Not a chance. Wherever Andy goes, so does the world's media.

As the British number one slams serve after serve over the net, under the watchful eye of coach Ivan Lendl, the camera shutters clasp, the record buttons are hit, and prying eyes stare.

And then some kids appear behind the car park fence about 100m away. "Andy Murray! Andy Murray," they shriek.

Shouldn't they be in school?

Huge cheers around the outer courts as an army of rain mac-wearing ball boys and girls haul off the covers and set up the courts. But I suspect their efforts might be in vain. It's spitting!! 

Kenny Simpson: Kyrgios vs Brown is going to be a VERY fun match! Already good just watching the warm up!

Chanice Hird: Australian fans are the best! Can always guarantee they'll bring some entertainment to the court! Nice work boys.

They have not even hit a ball in anger yet and Dustin Brown and Nick Kyrgios are at it.

A posse of yellow-shirted Aussies in the cheap seat are soundtracking the knock-up with grunts - high-pitched ones each time Brown hits the ball, manly deeper ones for Kyrgios.

Brown laughs along before responded by pumping a mid-rally forehand deep into the stands to the Fanatics.

Laughs all round.

There's no time to dwell on defeat for Johanna Konta.

The British number one is back on the practice courts, following her second round exit at the hands of Eugenie Bouchard, as she prepares for her doubles match alongside Maria Sanchez.

The pair are third up on court five today.

We have players.

Onto Court Two strides Dustin Brown, sporting a pair of whacking great headphones nestled on top of his long dreadlocks.

Nick Kyrgios is alongside him and takes a suspicious look up at the murky sky.

The umpire reminds the players that there are on-court microphones so they should mind their language. 

I doubt Kyrgios needs reminding about that.

There are no brollies on the hill. I repeat: there are no brollies on the hill. This can only be a good sign.

There are a lot of beer drinkers, though. Kicking off the weekend early over here.

 Viktor Troicki marched straight off court after the match and into the referees' office. 

After airing his grievances in there he left, smashed his racquet on the floor and headed to speak to the media.

"I behaved well. I didn't do anything until that moment," said Troicki.

Which is bit like saying you were the perfect wedding guest right up to the point that you head-butted the groom.

"He should be the one who is fined, he cost me. I'm not saying he cost me the match but he cost me an important point."

Not enough characters in the game they say.

All too media-trained and restrained they add.

Well, Viktor Troicki will give you some character. Frankly he is ready to shove it somewhere where the sun shines even less than Wimbledon 2016.

The Serb lost his cool, rag and just about everything else with umpire Damiano Torella after the official overruled an important line call in his second-round loss to Albert Ramos-Vinolas at Wimbledon on Thursday.

"Ok, guys. Let's get the covers off," shouts the man in charge on court 19.

It's grey and windy outside but it looks like the rain is holding off for now. 

We had been hoping that play would get under way at 11:30 BST on the outside courts. It's not going to, but I don't think should it be much longer.

The covers are still on, but are being deflated. The rain has just about stopped. 

I expect, by the time the taurpaulin is peeled back and the net twanged tight, we will be looking at 11:45 BST,
