Not that any further condiments are required when Murray and Dimitrov meet. They have a "whole lot of history" (I defy you to find anywhere else that bounces between The Cooper Temple Clause and One Direction).

Bulgarian Dimitrov was the man that ended Murray's Wimbledon defence in 2014 and also defeated a pretty miffed British number one in Miami earlier this year.

That was Melbourne in early 2015, this is New York in the summer of 2016.

Now, Murray and Vallverdu are on pretty good terms - they went out for lunch together when they arrived in the Big Apple.

Still, a US Open fourth-round clash with Vallverdu's latest charge Grigor Dimitrov puts a little extra mustard on the hot dog.

Now, I'm not going as far as to say that Andy Murray and Dani Vallverdu were ever enemies, but there was certainly a time when the Wimbledon champ and his former coach weren't best friends either.

In fact, a match against Tomas Berdych, Vallverdu's employer after the Scot, got future wife Kim so agitated she would later be seen wearing this...

It was Berkshire alternative rockers The Cooper Temple Clause (RIP) who asked "who need enemies, when you've got friends?"

I'm not sure if The CTC were tennis fans, but the spirit of their words lives on in New York tonight.
