The two teams are introduced onto court.

The PA man gives Andy Murray the big build-up and the main man racks up some significant decibels.

A little more work could have gone into the rest of the team's hype-up though.

"Birmingham's finest" Dan Evans, "please welcome" Kyle Edmund and "last but not least" Jamie Murray get hearty cheers nonetheless.

  2. The Hand of Godpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 17 September 2016

Argentina's commanding day at the Davis Cup office features heavily on the front pages of the newspapers back home.

Ole lead with a headline "The Hand of God" referencing Maradona's famous 1986 goal against England.

Argentina are chasing their first ever Davis Cup title after losing in four finals.

  3. Pre-match entertainmentpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 17 September 2016

The crowd at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow is being warmed up by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers - the self-proclaimed "most famous bagpipe band on the planet".

    I can't think of another.

British captain Leon Smith could really use a Braveheart performance from the Murray brothers to rattle the Argentine self-belief.

  4. 'Two five-setters ahead for Andy'published at 13:57 British Summer Time 17 September 2016

    Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player on BBC One

It’s no surprise that Andy is playing - at 2-0 down, Great Britain don’t really have a choice, but Del Potro on the court is really, really strange. Looking ahead you’ve got to think Andy has two five-set matches ahead of him and hopefully he can get the team into a deciding rubber.

  5. Del Potro in doubles 'shock'published at 13:56 British Summer Time 17 September 2016

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC One

I’m in total shock about that, I can’t understand why he’s playing. I suppose he must have woken up this morning, felt great and said 'let’s go for a clean sweep.' But I’m shocked that the Argentinian captain has picked him.

After Guido Pella's percentage consistency overcame the ballistics of Kyle Edmund in the second singles rubber yesterday, Great Britain have a 2-0-shaped mountain to scale.

It can and has been done though.

Croatia booked their place in this year's semi-finals by recovering from 2-0 down to beat the United States.

Last year Australia did the same to beat Kazakhstan in the last eight.

And Great Britain pulled off the improbable against Russia in Coventy back in April 2013.

it was however the first time since 1930 that Great Britain had done so.

After fives hours, five sets and one epic match yesterday afternoon, the expectation was that Juan Martin del Potro at least would take the day off from Great Britain and Argentina's Davis Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Instead both he and Andy Murray, who ended up on the wrong end of the 6-4 5-7 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-4 scoreline in their opening singles rubber, are straight back into the doubles mix.

Del Potro teams up with Leonardo Mayer while Murray partners brother Jamie.
