  1. Konta breaks Wozniackipublished at 05:28 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Wozniacki 3-4 Konta*

Konta plays the same shot to two points, Wozniacki going shorter and Konta hitting the backhand wide. She looks irked and responds with a fine angled forehand for break point.

The Dane has complete control of the rally though, Konta charging around side to side before backhanding into the net.

Her response is another stonking backhand that wrong foots Wozniacki before she smashes past her to break. Excellent stuff from both players there.

    *Wozniacki 3-3 Konta

Up to the net comes Konta and she takes the pace off a backhand that floats over the net.

Two big aces come next and Konta sets up the chance to hold to love, but she puts too much on her smash back and Wozniacki gets on the board. The Dane draws another error out of Konta before another ace tidies things up.

  3. 'Konta consistency impressive'published at 05:16 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

For Konta to play at this level knowing she has to defend all those points from last year's semi-final is so impressive. A lot of players have a breakthrough tournament but the top players are able to perform consistently, over and over again.

    Wozniacki 3-2 Konta*

A ridiculous rally goes Konta's way, Wozniacki charging up and down as the pair go aerial. Konta secures the point with a hammered forehand but Wozniacki's response is a marvellus backhand down the line.

Konta overhits, and there's a fist pump from Wozniacki as she holds.

    *Wozniacki 2-2 Konta

Konta bangs her serve in, Wozniacki sprawls and gets a touch on it but Konta gives the return a hearty thwack and the Dane can't get to it.

Wozniacki then comes up to the net, meeting a drop shot and dinking it over Konta's head. Lovely bit of footwork there, and Konta mimics it, volleying a backhand over to end a long rally.

Powerful stuff from both players but it's Konta who takes the game with a slamming backhand.

    Wozniacki 2-1 Konta*

Wozniacki gets right down to pick up a ball off the baseline and knock it back, before Konta overhits a backhand in reply.

There's an annoyed shake of the head for the Brit, and she goes for the double bluff, bringing Wozniacki wide before smashing a backhand down the line. The Dane doesn't miss a beat, though, and forces the error out of Konta.

    *Wozniacki 1-1 Konta

Plenty of beans from both of these players, Wozniacki hammering a forehand in before Konta backhands it back.

Wozniacki, half in sun and half in shade, is doing plenty of running around as Konta goes cross court. She gets half a racquet onto a forehand but there's no direction on it, and Konta holds to love.

That's what she did throughout Sydney, before the Australian Open. She is already well inside the baseline on that second serve from Wozniacki, putting a lot of pressure on the server.

    Wozniacki 1-0 Konta*

Wozniacki throws the ball up and sends down a big, loopy serve but Konta is equal to it, hammering a forehand back that the Dane overhits.

That's superb from Konta, an aggressive two-handed backhand that whizzes back beyond Wozniacki, before Konta gets too much on a forehand to take it to deuce.

A monster serve from Wozniacki gives her advantage before Konta comes hopping forward and pops a forehand over the net. Wozniacki's serve is strong, though, and she holds her serve.

Right, here we go. Wozniacki will serve first up.

  11. Makarova awaits winnerpublished at 04:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Russia's Ekaterina Makarova is waiting in the wings to play the winner of today's game after beating sixth seed Dominika Cibulkova in a three hour tussle.

Makarova, who made the semi-finals in Melbourne in 2015, broke Cibulkova three times in the first set before taking a 4-0 lead in the second.

Cibulkova hit back, winning five consecutive games, and a medical time out for Makarova looked to have set things up nicely for the Slovak.

But Makarova broke her serve straight away and went on to take the match and set up a meeting with either Konta or Wozniacki.

    AO

The new AO logo has received mixed reviews (I now like it). Federer was asked about it in his pre-event presser. He looked behind him at the backboard full of them.

"It's alright," he said, in a tone that suggested otherwise.

  13. Williams powers into next roundpublished at 04:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Over on the Rod Laver Arena, Serena Williams has done what Serena Williams does.

It's taken her an hour and three minutes to complete a 6-1 6-3 victory over fellow American Naomi Gibbs.

Williams, fighting for her seventh Australian Open title, won 61 points as she set up a tie with Czech Barbora Strycova in round four.

  14. 'Famous? That's Sir Andy Murray, not me!'published at 04:40 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Konta is Britain's number one player, the world number nine, has won 10 of her last 11 matches and reached the semi-finals in Melbourne last year.

Does she class herself as famous? Nah - that's Andy Murray's job.

"All of us are entertainers and we are out there to put on a good performance, a good show for the people who come to watch us," she said.

"I think it’s our responsibility to also entertain them. I don’t think of myself as a famous person. That’s Sir Andy Murray!”

  16. Konta goes for 11th victorypublished at 04:35 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Ey up - welcome to today's live text commentary of Johanna Konta v Caroline Wozniacki

It's the first time Konta has faced former world number one Wozniacki.

Wozniacki has looked in fine touch, cruising through a second round straight set victory over Donna Vekic to set up the meeting with Konta.

But Konta has won ten of her last 11 matches and her aggressive style, coupled with plenty of confidence, has caught the eye in Melbourne.
