Rafa might be bossing the head-to-head, winning 23 of the 36 previous meetings, but it is Roger who has dominated in recent months.

Federer has won their past three showdowns - something the Swiss had never previously achieved.

And, after facing each other just twice between 2014 and 2016, the old foes are reconvening for a third meeting of 2017.

"It feels like old times. We're playing each other every week now. We can't get enough of each other," joked 35-year-old Federer.

"Hopefully it's not our last match."

Barely a spare seat in the house. Punters are filling up Crandon Park rather quickly as we wait for the players to emerge ahead of Fedal XXXVII. Even Rocky Balboa does not have as many Roman numerals after his name.

Federer has played more tennis than Nadal to reach the final, including that semi-final battle against Nick Kyrgios that lasted an epic 3 hours and 11 minutes.

Nadal has only lost one set en route to his fifth Miami final (2005, 2008, 2011, 2014) - although that was a bagel against Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The Spaniard has not won the title in his previous four attempts. Fifth time lucky?

Right then, back to today's action. No sign of Federer or Nadal yet. They will be pacing around the locker room, scoffing a pre-match banana or doing a few warm-up lunges. Well, that's what I'd be doing.

Britain's Johanna Konta is targeting the world number one ranking after claiming the biggest title of her career at the Miami Open.

Konta was the world number 146 in June 2015, but she believes a Grand Slam title and further progress is possible.

"The belief has been there since I was a little girl," she said.

"I'd like to be the best player in the world but there's a lot of work to be done between now and then.

The biggest day in British women's tennis since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977.

That's how many have described Johanna Konta taking the biggest title of her career.

The 25-year-old beat former world number one Caroline Wozniacki to become the first British woman to win the Miami Open.

Konta, who in June 2015 was the world number 146, will climb to seventh from 11th in the rankings - her highest yet.

Forget Borg v McEnroe. Forget Ali v Frazier. Forget Prost v Senna.

Federer v Nadal has a strong case, some might say water-tight, to be considered as sport's greatest rivalry.

I'd argue, on the grounds of quality and durability, these two are unparalleled.

But that's the thing - we can all argue the merits of different cases. So let's do it.

Is this sport's greatest rivalry? Or does another duel get your vote. And most importantly, why?

You might not be surprised to know that Miami is bright and sunny, perfect for sitting back and watching a spot of tennis between GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and GOATER (Greatest of All Time Except Roger). The second acronym is completely up for debate - I think Pete Sampras might disagree. It just worked for me.

Hello! The hair might be thinning a little, the faces may be a little more leathered. But that burning desire to win - and the ability to execute it - is still as strong as ever in Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Thirteen years after their first meeting, these two tennis Supermen are preparing to stare across the net at each other for the 37th time.

And like 22 of those previous showdowns, one of them will lifting a trophy at the end of it.

And the answer to that pay-off is... we still don't know when it will end.

The little-known Spaniard was Rafael Nadal. The two-time Grand Slam champion was Roger Federer.

    The rest is history.

Another 30 Grand Slam titles between them, the creation of one of sport's greatest rivalries.

And it is still going strong at the highest level with both men into their 30s...

While both men were making big waves, they were on the tennis court rather than on South Beach.

One was a 22-year-old who had already won two Grand Slam titles. The other was a little-known Spanish teenager who was being tipped for great things.

They had never played each other in a Tour match. That all changed on a sweaty night when they mey in the Miami Open last 32.

The little-known Spaniard, with his flowing locks, bulging biceps and vicious left-handed forehand, ended up winning 6-3 6-3.

"One wonders where this will all end," mused the television commentator.

Let's step into our BBC Sport time machine and whizz back to March 2004.

Specifically, let's go to Miami. You know, the place which Will Smith, AKA the Fresh Prince, sang about:

"Party in the city where the heat is on. All night, on the beach til the break of dawn."

But while Big Will freestyled about babes, booze and beaches, a couple of young lads were here on business...
