Hello, here's match point as a Youzhny backhand goes long...
Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 5-2 Youzhny*
A double fault again from Youzhny. That cramp has really stuffed his serve - he can't get any momentum into it.
He's on the board though as two Federer backhands go wide. Federer's really not got to grips with that serve today. The lack of pace hasn't suited him at all.
40-15 comes up as a Federer backhand finds the net once again, but then Federer unfurls two fine forehands to force deuce.

If you'd have told me three hours ago that this match would go to five sets and that Mikhail Youzhny's backhand would be making Roger Federer's look ordinary, I'd have probably had a good old chuckle at your expense.
But here we are. What a match. Odd and yet enthralling. And here he is. A game away from victory.

I feel for Youzhny. He is not shy of putting the work in. It is not like you should say he needs to hit the gym.
He has always been a very good professional. It is a shame to see him like this. If I was in his box I would be oozing with pride.

How do you consolidate a break?
With your second love hold of the set, that's how. Roger Federer is a game away from the US Open third round.
Sports Illustrated's Jon Wertheim has this right...

Oh, Mikhail. A double fault hands Federer the break. He's fading now but what a performance this has been.
*Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 3-2 Youzhny
The umpire calls "out" to a Federer backhand, he challenges - and it's in! Arthur Ashe boos her and she raises her hand in apology to the crowd.

Ace down the T to get yourself on the board. As you do.
*Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 3-2 Youzhny
A drop shot from Federer forces Youzhny to come running forward - I'm not entirely sure Federer intended that but it's worked, bouncing twice before Youzhny can get near it.
And now long on the forehand from the Russian! Three break points to Federer...
Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 3-2 Youzhny*
He is. He's clearly not 100%, it's getting harder to serve and Federer's trying to make him run around like a puppy in a park.
Where's your money going, folks?

Youzhny is showing such bravery here.
Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 3-2 Youzhny*
Double fault from Federer hands Youzhny the first points of the game, but Youzhny swats his next forehand wide cross-court. Plenty of oomph behind that, just not much direction.
That's a glorious strike down the line from Federer, a beautiful backhand volley that just kisses the line, before Youzhny sails his response wide.
Game, Federer.
Ant Steel: People forget Federer is a stone-cold competitor, along with his grace. Fed is the King.
Abu Ali: There could be a MASSIVE upset here......and the crowd is dead silent. So strange!
*Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 2-2 Youzhny
That's an almighty second serve from Youzhny, and Federer nets.
And, finally, the game ends as Federer's forehand goes long.

The way Youzhny is walking it is amazing what he is managing to do in the rallies.
Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 2-1 Youzhny*
Federer mis-hits a backhand but Youzhny does the same, and that brings up the second break point.
Oh! Federer fluffs it again! Down the line goes Youzhny, Federer unfurls the backhand - and nets. To the sixth deuce we go.
Federer 6-1 6-7 (3-7) 4-6 6-4 2-1 Youzhny*
Break point Federer! Youzhny sails his backhand into the net. This is the first break Federer has had...
And, my word, he's overcooked that! Youzhny, working with just one leg, gets down low and spanks a forehand back that Federer sends wide.

I think the cramp is starting to go through Youzhny's arm.
