I think this is going to be special atmosphere. If you listen to Juan Martin Del Potro, there's not much point in staying up. He'll say 'we all know Rafa is the clear favourite, but I'll just remind you this is my favourite court in the world'.

With all the lights and music, Tiger Woods probably thought he had sniffed out a Vegas nightspot.

Better than that. He has a prime seat for a heavyweight contest worthy of the Strip's famous nights.

    Nadal v Del Potro

    line-ups

Juan Martin del Potro might be on light end of the head-to-head scoreline, but he has taken the last two meetings with Rafael Nadal - in the semi-finals of the Rio Olympics and in the 2013 Shanghai Masters.

The Argentine fans have been out in force all afternoon, putting on a show for the rather bemused locals. Football chants are something of a mystery here, although I think everyone is pretty familar with "Ole, ole, ole, ole... Delpo, Delpooo" by now. There are Argentina shirts everywhere, one nice lady asking if they were "soccer uniforms". She had actually picked out a Pumas rugby shirt, but it didn't seem the time to quibble. The Delpo fans will still be outnumbered among the 23,000 spectators, but rest assured you will hear them on the upper deck.

Not before a bit of patriotic warbling though.

To fill the changeover a young man has just stepped up to the microphone to bash out a vibrato version of American the Beautiful.

    "From sea to shining seeeeeeeeeeeea!"

Somewhere in the depths of Arthur Ashe, Rafael Nadal and Juan Matin del Potro are stretching off and warming up.

He will be second favourite in the final but Kevin Anderson, with that serve and that game, is well placed to take advantage if whoever opposite is not at the top of their game.

I think Kevin wants to enjoy this moment first before thinking about the final. He will come out firing for that on Sunday, but he doesn't want to put too much pressure on himself.

    Anderson 6-4 5-7 6-3 6-4 Carreno Busta

Kevin Anderson speaking on court: "I really don't know what to say. There was so much support, these Grand Slams are tough, we are playing with some of the best players in history and it is nice that they gave us a run. It was an unbelievably tough match on one of the biggest stages in tennis. My emotion at the end kind of summed it up.

"At the end of last year I was told I would probably need surgery on my hip. It was very hard. Nine months later this means the absolute world to me."

Pablo Carreno Busta is fighting back. He couldn't, could he?

A panicking Anderson lands a drop shot which is just on the line. It was so close to being out. But it's 30-30.

A massive smash brings up match point.

Kevin Anderson gets ready to serve for a place in his first ever Grand Slam final.

    No pressure.

The first point is RIDICULOUS! That's 38 shots! My word. It all comes to an end when Anderson hits wide.

The South African gets off the mark as Carreno Busta dumps a backhand into the net.

Another epic rally ensues and again Anderson misplaces his final shot. 15-30.

    DRAMA.

Kevin Anderson does not have to think about it too much. Just concentrate on landing that first serve. He has been holding pretty easily in this set. The same again will be good enough.

Anderson lobs Carreno Busta. It's travelling, it's travelling, it's travelling. It's out! Anderson challenges but it's no good.

After deuce four, Carreno Busta opts for a hotdog. The shot type, not the sausage type. What a time to bring that trickshot out!

Finally, after five deuces, the Spaniard prevails and holds.

Kevin Anderson remains a game away from the final.

    40-0.

Pablo Carreno Busta's going full pelt.

Hold on a sec...the South African has clawed his way back to 40-30. And now deuce.

Carreno Busta lashes an approach shot home for the advantage but then shoots long.

We're all square again for a second deuce.
