    Anderson v Carreno Busta

Kevin Anderson has a 2-0 head-to-head record against twelfth seed Pablo Carreno Busta, but the Spaniard is looking in great form at Flushing Meadows. The 26-year-old has not dropped a set in five matches.

He's at a career-high 16 in the singles rankings and is also a nifty doubles player ranked 18th in the world.

In fact, he reached the doubles final at the US Open last year alongside Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, where they lost to Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares.

Carreno Busta has three ATP titles in both disciplines, with his most recent singles triumph coming in Estoril in May.

I haven't been able to find out if he has a cute dog, but I did find this awesome photo of him from earlier in the tournament.

Johannesburg-born Kevin Anderson has been on the pro circuit for 10 years now.

At 6ft 8ins, he is known for his big serve and favours hard court surfaces.

Anderson has three ATP titles to his name - Johannesburg, Delray Beach and Winston-Salem.

He broke into the world's top 10 in 2015, and now finds himself at 32 in the rankings.

The 31-year-old's previous best at a Grand Slam came at the US Open in 2015, when he reached the quarter-finals.

But the most important thing you need to know about Kevin is that he has a tiny, tiny dog who has her own accreditation. Hi, Lady Kady!

  3. Who is Kevin Anderson?published at 20:56 British Summer Time 8 September 2017

    Anderson v Carreno Busta

We ask this question because the British public haven't a clue, apparently.

On an edition of popular quiz show Pointless, aired last week, they asked for players who featured in the top 50 men's singles rankings in 2016.

US Open semi-finalist Kevin Anderson was a pointless answer! Poor old Kev.

So here's all you need to know...

    US Open men's single semi-finals

In our midst tonight we have two former US Open champions and two Grand Slam semi-final debutants.

Rafael Nadal lifted the trophy in 2010 and 2013, while Juan Martin Del Potro was the surprise winner in 2009 against Roger Federer - the same man he beat in the quarters this year.

Both Kevin Anderson and Pablo Carreno Busta are looking for their first major final. South African Anderson previously reached the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows in 2015, while Spaniard Carreno Busta made the last eight of the French Open this year.
