Roger Federer has broken Marton Fucsovics early in the third set.

It's a long way back for the Hungarian now...

Second seed Federer looks to be cruising through to the quarter-finals and could even wrap it up in under two hours, if he really hurries.

We'll find out how Halep is feeling in the next hour or so.

In the last round Halep came up against an inspired world number 76 Lauren Davis and the pair produced three hours 45 minutes of the best tennis we have seen so far in the competition.

Halep was triple match point down on her own serve during a 142-minute final set but survived to take the decider 15-13.

She said her muscles were "gone" after the match and that she didn't know how her ankle, which had troubled her in earlier rounds, was because she "couldn't feel it".

    How will she recover today?

This is how your Monday morning is going to plan out...

First up it's a look at the women's world number one. After coming through the match of the tournament so far in the previous round, Simona Halep will continue her quest for a first Grand Slam title against exciting 20-year-old Naomi Osaka.

Then it's over to a man who would very much like to be back on top of the rankings. Novak Djokovic is in action in the first match of the night session on Laver against the youngest man left in the tournament, NextGen champ Hyeon Chung.

For afters there's also an all-Czech affair featuring the big-serving sixth seed Karolina Pliskova.

    Monday blues = banished.

    Federer 6-4 6-6 (5-3) Fucsovics

Roger Federer has only lost three times to a player ranked as low as world number 80 Fucsovics but the Hungarian is putting up a fair fight.

The Swiss maestro has just nabbed a mini-break in this second set tie-break though. Can he close it out?

    • Roger Federer is currently in a bit of a battle as he plays his first day match of this year's championship. He's a set up but is currently locked in a second set tie-break against Marton Fucsovics.
    • Earlier on that court, 2016 champion Angelique Kerber had a right old tussle with world number 88 Hsieh Su-Wei. At one point it looked like the German was going out but she came back to win in three.
    • 17th seed Madison Keys made much more straight-forward progress. She blasted her way past Caroline Garcia, the eighth seed.
    • Tomas Berdych also made similarly serene progress. He dropped just nine games in beating Fabio Fognini.
