One of the reasons Sasnovich has been so good today is her movement around the grass court, she changes direction quickly, she's quick off the mark, and gets to the deep explosive shots from Kvitova and make her play that extra ball.

  12. Edmund pleased he played early so he can watch the footiepublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The British journalists are duty bound to ask all British players about the England v Colombia football match tonight and Liverpool fan Kyle Edmund is certainly excited about it.

He was pleased he opened proceedings on Court One so there wouldn't be a clash.

"I don't know if they did it intentionally, but all the organisers put the Brits on first up on the schedule in time to watch the football later, which is great."

So should Wimbledon change it's policy and show England on the big screen?

"I don't know really. It's a tennis tournament. They're here to watch tennis anyway."

    How far can England go?

"I think the way the World Cup has worked out, it's pretty, like, indecisive. It's tough to really gauge what's going to happen. I think that helps England, to be honest. It's there for the taking."This is what you want, knock-out stage of the World Cup. You stay or go home. Hopefully the boys can get it done and do the nation proud."

  13. 'Tactically astute from Sasnovich'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Kvitova 4-6 6-4 0-3 Sasnovich*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one at Wimbledon

It has been such a tactically astute game from Sasnovich. She is not overawed by playing on Court One against a two-time champion, she's taking it in her stride.

She's mixed the pace around and it hasn't suited Kvitova who is all over the place, not playing her game. She had to dig deep just to take the second set.

Halep remains a break to the good.

  16. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Kvitova 4-6 6-4 0-3 Sasnovich*

A terrific drop shot takes Sasnovich to a 30-15 lead, Kvitova camped behind the baseline and unable to even feign a move forward.

Oh, that's a poor lob from the Belarusian, though, and Kvitova has a break point...

From my vantage point overlooking Court 14, I spot former British number one Laura Robson.

The 24-year-old tells me she is to have hip surgery on Thursday in order reinvigorate a career previously blighted by a wrist injury. She also plans to be back at this Wimbledon working for the Tennis Channel, which is exactly what she was doing today.

    Speedy recovery!

I'm not sure Sasnovich could have walked on such a court and played more inspired tennis as she has, it is really incredible. Stringing it together just when she needs it.
