  1. Boom! Boom! Boulterpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Boulter 6-4 0-1 Cepede Royg

British hopes are once again raised as Boulter “The Boulder” takes the first set.

Despite an epic feat (kind of) in the making a raft of people leave the court.

They are replaced by a new batch though. I have high hopes for this lot.

  2. Halep takes early breakpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Halep 1-0 Nara

From one world number one to another on Centre Court, as Simona Halep steps up to face Japan's Kurumi Nara.

An early break point chance for the Romanian, too, as Nara punches a backhand long, but it's back to deuce after Halep miscues.

Break point number two for Halep - another wayward Nara backhand, she's not looking overly comfortable on that side.

And this time Simona Halep capitalises to take an early break.

    *Kvitova 4-6 6-4 0-2 Sasnovich

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one at Wimbledon

Kvitova has been made to work by Sasnovich, she's used a wonderful array of shots. Slices, topspin shots, she's come to the net, used lovely drop shots. We've seen a little bit of everything from her.

  4. Kvitova brokenpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Kvitova 4-6 5-2 0-2 Sasnovich

Here is the moment Petra Kvitova guaranteed a third set against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

She's been broken early in the decider, though...

  5. Game and first set - Boulterpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Boulter 6-4 Cepede Royg

    Katie Boulter!

A 44-minute opening set goes the way of the Briton, who is still furiously miming her cross-court forehands as she goes to her chair. She ends that set with 11 winners and 4 unforced errors, with 4 aces to boot.

  6. Thiem facing exitpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Thiem 4-6 5-7 Baghdatis

And there could be another seed on the way out of the Wimbledon doors.

Dominic Thiem is two sets down over on court two. It's going to take some fight back...

Game, set and match - Ebdenpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Goffin 4-6 3-6 4-6 Ebden

    The 10th seed falls!

Belgium's David Goffin lasts one hour and 33 minutes against 51st-ranked Matthew Ebden of Australia. Goffin, who reached the fourth round in 2016, is out in the first round.

It's the first time Ebden has been a top-10 ranked player at a Slam.

Cheers for Leicester’s finest but where are the chants?

She did raise a smile when her opponent’s return from her serve came off the frame and landed in SW18 or somewhere near there.

    Boulter 5-3 Cepede Royg*

    Lovely work from Katie Boulter.

Veronica Cepede Royg gets herself a break point but Boulter overpowers her, and then takes three points in a row to move within a game of taking the first set.

  10. Game and second set - Kvitovapublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

  11. Broady "can't watch England in the pub"published at 16:58 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Naomi Broady, who was beaten by defending champion Garbine Muguruza on Centre Court earlier, said she would have to watch the England match in her apartment because it wouldn't look good if she was seen in a pub as she's still in the doubles.

"I can't really go to the pub because I have doubles. I can't be seen at the pub, anyway, because somebody will definitely take a picture of me and it will look very wrong."

    Her prediction?

"I think we can actually do well (crossing fingers). I'm not going to jinx it, not going to say too much. We'll see how it goes. But I'm very, very excited for tonight."

Charlene: And Nadal is back. Get in there.

Philip: Rafa Nadal is through to the second round, One of the best tennis players for sure.

  13. 'Positive feelings' for Nadalpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Nadal 6-3 6-3 6-2 Sela

Here's Rafael Nadal: "Great always to play here in Wimbledon, especially on Centre Court - happy to be through and positive feelings.

"Room to improve, but after a while without playing on grass it's very important to start with a straight victory.

"I went to the net a couple of times, later in the third set I served worse, but in general terms I served well.

"It's not easy, especially here on grass. The important thing is to be through, I prefer to win in straight sets than in five.

"Every victory gives you confidence, it doesn't matter how you win."

  14. Boulter breakspublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Boulter 4-3 Cepede Royg

A deliciously angled forehand sets up another break point for Katie Boulter, as the game ticks over into the 10 minute mark.

Veronica Cepede Royg saved four, but she can't keep the fifth one out. Boulter takes the lead.

  15. 'Good all-round win'published at 16:51 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Nadal 6-3 6-3 6-2 Sela

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Strong performance, convincing first round against a tricky opponent. It was a good all-round win. He hasn't played on grass for a year. A few exhibition matches but you never quite know. Now he does, he is in fine form and has officially entered the championships.

  16. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Boulter 3-3 Cepede Royg

    Saj Chowdhury
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

So Katie Boulter of Leicester and of “I recently beat Sam Stosur who won the US Open” fame is trying to continue her good run on grass out on Court 14 - the death of compatriot Gabriella Taylor moments earlier.

There are no chants of “Go Katie! Go Katie!” yet but maybe the world number 122 can rouse the rabble inside in her match against Paraguayan world number 88 Veronica Cepede Royg.
