Oooh, a wayward forehand from Rafael Nadal that skips into the tramlines.

He gets Del Potro on the run off the next with some rapid groundstrokes and smashes an overhead down in the Argentine's direction - Del Potro almost somehow gets it back on the run, but just wraps the tape.

A Nadal slower serve flummoxes the fifth seed and it remains on serve.

    Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 4-6 11-13 Anderson

Roger Federer after his loss to Kevin Anderson: "I couldn’t feel very well off the baseline. The one-two punch wasn’t working at all today. I don’t know if it was the breeze or just a bad day from my side. I didn’t feel exactly 100% and that had nothing to do with my opponent, it is just one of those days where you hope to get by somehow, I almost could have and should have. Once you are in the rally it is hard to get him moving because he hits hard and strong.

"I felt good. Sure it is disappointing losing the next two sets after winning the first two and having match point but I’ve been there and I know what kind of energy I need to bring in the fifth and I was able to bring that.

"I didn’t feel mental fatigue. Now I feel horribly fatigued and just awful. It’s terrible. That’s how it goes, credit to him.”
