  10. Kvitova marches onpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

There's plenty going on today as players make their preparations for Wimbledon.

In Birmingham, defending champion Petra Kvitova has reached the quarter-finals with a 6-2 6-2 win over Daria Gavrilova.

Last year's Wimbledon winner Garbine Muguruza is also in action at Edgbaston - she's just lost the first set against Barbora Strycova - before Ashleigh Barty faces Julia Gorges.

In Mallorca, former world number one Victoria Azarenka plays Lucie Safarova, while in the men's side of things, Roger Federer will play Benoit Paire in Halle.

    Kyrgios v Edmund

Nick Kyrgios put an end to Andy Murray's return to the tour in the first round at Queen's, beating the Brit 2-6 7-6 7-5.

Kyrgios has had his own injury struggles - a hip injury limited his on-court time last year, and he withdrew from last month's French Open with an elbow problem.

He reached the semi-finals of last week's grass tournament in Stuttgart, where he lost to eventual champion Roger Federer.

That run was Kyrgios' best performance on grass since he reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2014.

  13. 'Hardest forehand in the sport'published at 14:00 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Andrew Castle
    BBC Sport tennis commentator

Kyle is certainly not the finished article, but he's heading in the right direction. He's adding things to his game all the time. What a year he's had. If you beat Djokovic and Goffin, like he did in Madrid, you're going to feel like a player. He has to have the hardest forehand in the sport.

    Kyrgios v Edmund

Kyle Edmund avoided losing in the Queen's first round for the second year in a row following his 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 win over America's Ryan Harrison.

The Brit has not had the best of times on grass - last year was the first time he reached the second round at Wimbledon in five attempts.

However, he's enjoying a career-best season, rising to 17th in the world rankings and becoming the British number one for the first time.

He reached the quarter-finals at Queen's in 2016, before falling in three sets to eventual champion Andy Murray.
