Marin Cilic has ice running through his veins and takes the first set. When it came to the crunch the Croatian held his nerve.

Marin Cilic rasps a powerful backhand winner deep into the court and clenches his fist in celebration. He follows it up with a volleyed winner at the net which has Nick Kyrgios desperately stretching and he almost ends up in the stands.

A key moment on the Kyrgios serve with an unforced error as he overhits advancing up the court.

Somewhat predictably both men begin with points won on their serves.

Over in Halle, at one of the other pre-Wimbledon grass-court events, Roger Federer has booked his place in the final.

Federer, who needs to win his 10th title at the German event to retain his world number one ranking, beat Denis Kudla 7-6 (7-1) 7-5.

The Aussie does so after possibly the best rally of the match. Having sent Cilic scampering to the corner with a sliced backhand Kyrgios climbs high at the net to caress a volley into the empty court. He almost stumbles into the net before just regaining his footing at the crucial moment.

Another game goes to serve as Marin Cilic breezes through the next game. 5-4. Surely Nick Kyrigios will hold? We look on course for a tie-break here...

Nick Kyrgios does his best to entertain the crowd at least. The Aussie serves three aces then wins the point at 40-0 with a shot between his legs advancing to the net.

We are getting through these service games in rapid time. Marin Cilic sends down a huge ace to win the seventh game of the match.

There's also a bit of cursing from Nick Kyrgios after a miscued return. Any children sat on the front row at Queen's might see their parents tell them to put soundproof ear muffs on.

There's not been many rallies to excite the crowd at Queen's so far. Big, bashing, brutal serves are the order of the day.

However, at 30-15 on Nick Kyrgios' serve one threatens to break out and the Aussie wins the point with a eye-catching passing shot.

It is quickly back to type, though, as Kyrgios closes out the game with a couple of big serves to remain on level terms.
