Kvitova 2-1 Collins*
Collins and Kvitova trade two great winners.
15-15.
30-15 before Kvitova produces a booming first serve which is too hot to handle for Collins.
But Collins stays in a rally and bangs one into the feet of her opponent that just clips the line.
40-30.
The Czech player responds with a shot of similar length that outwits the 25-year-old.
This is pretty good so far.

Any idea who this guy is supporting? This is Aidan Winmore, who has flown all the way from.... Brisbane. Brisbane?!
He definitely has a Queensland accent. So why is he supporting Collins?
"I always back the American girls and she's the only one left. I wanted Sloane Stephens to go far, so I'm backing Danielle instead!
"Kvitova doesn't do well in the heat sometimes so I'm hoping Danielle uses that to her advantage. She's from Florida so she should be used to it..."

The two-time Wimbledon champion eventually holds.
Now can Collins do the same with her first service game?
*Kvitova 0-0 Collins
Nice little return to the feet by the Floridian.
15-30.
Lovely double-handed backhand crosscourt from Kvitova - used a protractor to get that tight angle.
30-30.

Kvitova v Collins
The pair have met once - that was at the Sydney International earlier this month.
Kvitova won but only after being taken to two tie-breaks.
It'll be fascinating to see how this pans out.

Thankfully the media seats are in shade...
The Laver roof was closed until shortly before the players arrived.
Feel sorry for those sat in the slithers of sun along the baseline.
Do they pay more for the best view? Or pay less for not having shade? Not sure...
Kvitova v Collins
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is in her first Grand Slam semi since she was the victim of a knife attack at her home two years ago.
After her win over home favourite Ashleigh Barty, she said: "It wasn't easy to see myself in a semi-final after everything.
"I'm calling it my second career. So it's the first semi-final of the second career."
Collins has a 9% chance of winning this match... so you're saying there's still a chance?
Kvitova v Collins
Now then, Collins had not won a Grand Slam match nor a WTA title coming into this tournament, but now finds herself one step away from something pretty incredible.
She is 25 and was born in Florida, where she has been nurtured by famous tennis coach Chip Brooks.
Last year Collins moved up more than 130 places to 36 having reached the last eight at Indian Wells, the semi-finals in Miami, before making the last four in San Jose.
She excels on the hard court, although thrashing Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber and overcoming seeds Caroline Garcia and Julia Gorges in the earlier rounds has been no mean feat.
"Nerves are a natural part of it. I think I embrace it well. I go out fiery and feisty, no matter what," Collins said of the upcoming match.

If the players want to have a break after two sets they can - remember those breaks from the US Open?
Great days.

Scorchio! Temperatures are expected to reach 40C in Melbourne today. Not quite the record 43C that it reached in 2014...
Even the Melburnians - and tourists - are desperately seeking shade...
Kvitova v Collins
The players have come out on to the blue of Rod Laver - they are trying to look cool, but are no doubt sweating buckets.
Plenty of BO basher used beforehand.

Do they have hovering fans to cool the players down?
Kvitova v Collins
Right.
We have an Aussie Open semi-final double header coming up.
First up is eighth seed Petra Kvitova v tournament surprise Danielle Collins.
That is followed by US Open champion Naomi Osaka v Serena-slayer Karolina Pliskova.
'Intriguing' is the perfect word to describe these two forthcoming duels.
A live text feast coming right up.
