Another word for this tribute to Andy Murray, from his fellow rollercoaster rider Nick Kyrgios.

"Andy, I know you take me for a joker most of the time, but at least hear me out on this one old friend. You will always be someone that impacted the sport in so many different ways, I know this was never the way you wanted to go out, but hey it was a heck of a ride.

"You took me under your wing as soon as I got on tour, and to this day you have been someone I literally just look forward to seeing. You are one crazy tennis player, miles better than me, but I just want you to know that today isn’t only a sad day for you and your team, it’s a sad day for the sport and for everyone you’ve had an impact on."

Vicki Spreadbury: Obviously winning Wimbledon, but also when an absolutely exhausted Murray came back from a set and a break down against Simon to get us to the Davis Cup semis in 2015. One of those days he simply refused to lose.

Stephanie Greenwood: Losing the Wimbledon 2012 final to Federer. for me, the heartbreak broke the myth that he didn’t care and sparked his route to triumph.

Alex Booth: Impossible to choose really but staying up to watch his 2nd Olympic Gold win in Rio was incredible. Watching the Wimbledon wins with my mum (and lots of Pimms and yummy food). Davis Cup also awesome. Such a champion and a wonderful man.

All being well, we still have time left to enjoy Andy Murray.

The Australian Open gets under way on 14 January, with Murray's first-round match against Roberto Bautista Agut starting on Monday or Tuesday.

There's always a sense of unfinished business when it comes to Andy Murray and the Australian Open.

He's reached the final five times but has never managed to clinch the title - he lost his first final to Roger Federer before losing the next four to Novak Djokovic.

The messages from the WTA players says a lot about what high regard Murray is held in.

He's long championed equal pay in tennis - he wrote a piece for the BBC back in 2017 about the subject.

"We've got more female role models than ever before, more female commentators than ever before and more people championing the rights for women in sport than ever before," he wrote.

"Things are moving in a positive direction and I am excited about a future in which the playing field might be level for all."

Roger Federer once asked Andy Murray how he got his hair to be so curly.

Murray's reply? "I don't take as good care of mine as you! I saw you checking your hair out during the photoshoot yesterday."
