The great news is that Konta will be so confident going into the grass-court season because when you do so well on your least favourite surface it gives you a massive boost going into tournaments on a surface you enjoy playing on.

So, half an hour in and Johanna Konta is serving for the opening set...

Saved! A magnificent feathered volley, sucking all of the venom out of the Federer forehand, brings the Swiss back to deuce once more.

And Wawrinka survives to return to his stool, ahead on the scoreboard.

There's a long way to go but it's been an excellent start from Konta who is playing with the look of someone full of confidence. She is dictating play at the moment.

The American has shown glimpses of her ability to hit winners, but has also made nine unforced errors already.
