    *Delbonis 3-6 2-2 Evans

    John Inverdale
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Dan Evans is very angry following that third game. He's shouting at something - I don't know whether it's directed at himself or at his coach.

He's thrown his towel down. I think the umpire had a little word with him there.

Either way, he's on-serve in this second set.

Joe Atkin: While Kyrgios is a muppet at times, you can’t deny how good he really is. Absolute joy to watch and has a great craic whilst on court.

  4. Game and first set Wardpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    *Ward 6-2 0-0 Basilashvili

James Ward is justifying the decision to gift him a wildcard so far.

The 32-year-old, ranked 195 in the world currently, has taken the first set off Nikoloz Basilashvili, 16th in the world.

Ward's best run at Wimbledon was to the third round in 2015. Still, let's not get ahead of ourselves...

    *Kyrgios 5-6 Thompson

Some fantastic tennis on court three as Nick Kyrgios goes diving (stumbling?!) to retrieve a Jordan Thompson slice to win the point. Not sure he needed to fling himself to the grass there, but he made the shot nonetheless. Thompson eventually holds, but the momentum appears to be swinging in Kyrgios' favour...

Well, these two are getting on like a house on fire.

Goran Ivanisevic, who has joined Novak Djokovic’s team for Wimbledon, shares a joke with the Serb’s main coach Marian Vajda. Not sure what the gag was but they both found it hilarious.

Novak arrives a few minutes later, fist-bumping both men before ribbing another member of his team about his clothing attire.

And then Goran gets *almost* as many shouts from the oversized ball-wielding fans as Novak when they walk to the warm-up area....

    Solid start for James Ward

James Ward is still nursing the break of serve that he secured in the second game all the way towards the business end of things.

Nikoloz Basilashvili tees off next, but James Ward will have a chance to get the first set won off his own serve.

  8. Kyrgios breaks backpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    *Kyrgios 4-5 Thompson

Two break back points for Nick Kyrgios, and just in time for the Australian with Jordan Thompson serving for the opening set.

Kyrgios only needs one! Leaping forehand winner, bingo. Thompson is irate with himself.

Watch that one live right here.

Sometimes we see a snarling, sulking Dan Evans but today we have the calm and composed version.

He serves out the first set.

A solid start for Dan Evans as he takes the first set at a canter.

The Briton played some big, big shots, which the crowd were absolutely loving.

Carry on like that and he’ll have his place In the second round wrapped up in no time at all.

And dangerous Dan Evans does the first-set bizzo with a nice spot of old-school serve-volley.

He is looking street-smart and grass-savvy.

The Duchess of Cambridge may be bringing some eighties-era glamour with that double-breasted white dress, but she has the misfortunate to be seated behind an absolutely spiffing 1930s era moustache. Overshadowed for me.

Facial hair like that won wars.

It remains on serve on court 14.

You can always tell what a talented athlete Dan Evans is.

He was a squash player before tennis and he's a single-handicap golfer too.

Things are going just fine for him at the moment - he's a game away from taking the first set.

Dan Evans must have looked at this draw and quite fancied his chances against Federico Delbonis here.

And looking further ahead in the draw, the winner of this match will face James Ward or Nikoloz Basilashvili, so Evans has got a pretty favourable draw.

Trouble for Nick Kyrgios... he's been broken by fellow Australian Jordan Thompson early in the opening set. Loving Thompson's Goose-esque 'tache, too - so thick it looks painted on. Pass the aviators...
