Royalty wherever you look down on the practice courts.

Roger Federer has just left, moments after Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic turned up.

Oh, and then the Duchess of Cambridge arrived.

The future Queen stood on the viewing platform looking over the court where Johanna Konta is practising, leaving the British number one looking up in amazement when she spotted the famous fan as she retrieved a spare ball.

    No pressure Jo...

Rule one of being a famous sports star: always have time for the fans.

Johanna Konta is well aware of that as she shows a lovely touch at the end of her practice session... dropping her bag and running back over to the fence where several kids are screaming for her attention.

“We’ve been waiting for 15 minutes Jo - please?!”

The British number one has a quick chat, signs several oversized balls and then heads off.

    “Thanks Jo! WE LOVE YOU!”

Love him or loathe him, you can't say watching Nick Kyrgios isn't a unique experience. Two or three times in that Jordan Thompson service game the Australian looked to have the chance to break back, but opted for outrageously nonchalant shots that his countryman was equal to.

The last of those was his third 'tweener attempt of the day, which Thompson duly punished.

Kyrgios finds himself serving to stay in the second set, but his opponent capitalises on some loose and lethargic ground strokes to take it.

And now Kyrgios is getting some treatment, watch this space...

  19. 'Evans comes through nervy tie break'published at 12:31 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    John Inverdale
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

People always say, if you're a football fan, that 2-0 is a dangerous score - though I'm not quite sure why.

Because it's a lot less dangerous than 1-0 - I'd have thought. I'm fairly sure Dan Evans will be much happier being two sets up, because it was a bit of a nervy tie break for the Aston Villa fan.

  20. Thompson breakspublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Kyrgios 7-6 (7-4) 3-4 Thompson*

Well... that wasn't in the Nick Kyrgios script. Jordan Thompson pulls of a tidy lob, Kyrgios chases back towards the baseline and looks to play a forehand through his legs but can only watch on as it drifts wide - and with that, Thompson breaks, just like he did in the opener.
