There was an element of saving your energy for the battles ahead in those last couple of points.
Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 6-1 0-0 *Federer
Rafael Nadal rips though the final service game to love. That got out of hand quickly for Roger Federer...
Level pegs.
*Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 5-1 Federer
Pat Cash

He's lost his rhythm. Nadal is hitting the ball deeper and getting it up high. He's worked well on mixing it up a bit.
*Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 5-1 Federer
Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV at Wimbledon
Federer's level has really just dropped off in the last 10 minutes.
*Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 5-1 Federer
Horrible from Federer. The production line has spluttered and is spitting out defects of his usual silky strokes.
A framed backhand flies into the crowd.
Nadal to serve for the second set next.
Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 4-1 *Federer
Federer nets a poor forehand to offer up a break point.

Sid Samuel: This is such a good match. Five sets and a Nadal win please.
Naim Rahman: This is so relentless. I don't have any nails left to bite and it's still the second set.

It's psychological. Roger knew that if he got that break when he had those chances, the momentum would be in his favour. Losing it really affected him psychologically and he wasn't ready to play that next service game.

Suddenly we've gone from a very tight scenario early in this second set to Nadal winning 10 points in a row and being a break up.
Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 4-1 *Federer
Roger Federer comes paddling to the net as serene as a swan at 30-15, but Rafa's patella-hunter of a backhand does for him.
A volley into the net to groans from the Fed Heads in the stands.
Any glimmer of a break is snuffed out.

Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV
Federer must be looking back and regretting not taking advantage of the break point he had earlier in the set.
Now, he must play catch up.

As well as the errant service games, there are other tell-tale signs Federer is getting hot under the collar.
Earlier he was chuntering away behind the baseline, not sure if to himself or the umpire, then lets out an annoyed groan as those break points ended up on Nadal's lap.

Marion Bartoli

It's incredible how in a flash when you drop your intensity, Rafa can find a way to get back on the offense.
*Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 3-1 Federer
A wretched game from Roger Federer. Three duffed forehands in there to help Rafa to a first break of serve.
If you offer up carrion like that, the Spaniard is going to pick the bones before you can blink.
Nadal 6-7 (3-7) 2-1 *Federer
Rafael Nadal swats a backhand winner across court for 0-30.
Roger Federer bets the bank on a cross-court forehand. And does a Nick Leeson.
Three break points Nadal.

Roger has to regroup very quickly because he had chances in that last game and you don't want to lose your serve after.

Its very difficult for Nadal - with a serve as accurate as Federer's you're just trying to get the ball back in play.
But you can't just send it down the middle of the court because Federer's forehand is such a dominant shot.
Nadal therefore has to look at how aggressive he can be on the return of serve.

Fear not, my friends. I made it to the top.
This hill would make for a fantastic game of “Where’s Wally?”...
What a view...
