I don't think that this is a fluke. I think it's the a start of what could be an incredible career.

My word. Williams makes ANOTHER double fault on serve and Andreescu goes a break up.
Andreescu 6-3 1-0 Williams*
It's happening again. Andreescu goes 30-0 up on Williams' serve, and then another net shot from the American brings up three break points.

I don't know what else I can add. I just sound like her best friend! She's so good.

It doesn't happen very often these days, that teenagers do this, but Andreescu is special.
Andreescu 6-3 1-0 Williams*
Andreescu goes 30-0 up in the opening game of the second set before Williams pulls a point back. Williams looks frustrated at herself but an Andreescu error brings her level.
Andreescu is playing her all over the park. This is astonishing. Williams' body language is all off.
The Canadian holds.

Naim Rahman: Serena looks untouchable in the build up to the final but crumbles like an amateur in Grand Slam finals now.

Stony faces in Serena's box. About this time last year Patrick Mouratoglou decided to take matters into his own hands. Literally. Will be keeping a careful eye on the Frenchman's signalling...

What a start the 19-year-old has made to her first Grand Slam final. Absolutely untroubled by the occasion, playing brilliant, nerveless tennis Serena Williams is rocking at the end of the first set.
*Andreescu 6-3 Williams
Three double faults and 14 unforced errors in that opening first set for Serena Williams.
A lot of improvements needed if she's to get herself back into this one.
Andreescu however, is cool and calm.

It will be really interesting, if and when the bubble Andreescu has been in, pops.

Andreescu completely having the greatest player of all time on the back feet, guessing.
*Andreescu 6-3 Williams
Another double fault on break point for Serena Williams and Bianca Andreescu breaks again to win the first set.
Wow.
Andreescu 5-3 Williams*
Williams is really struggling on her first serves tonight, and it's on her second serve at 30-15 down that Andreescu responds on the backhand to level.
A roar as Williams goes 40-30 up, an easy point off an Andreescu sliced return but great play at the net takes us to deuce.
Advantage/break point/set point for Andreescu.

"Do it for the 24th!" screams one bloke court-side.
Not sure that's the wisest message of support. Serena knows.
And despite claiming she is not overburdened by the weight of history, she is a break down in the opening set of a fourth consecutive Grand Slam final.
We know what happened in the previous three...

The crowd is going to wear out her opponent for her. Serena can stick to her game plan.
Andreescu 5-3 Williams*
Wow. "Not this time Serena" - that's what I'm imagining Andreescu is saying as she saves that break point with her fourth ace of the day before gaining the advantage herself.
And she takes it, wrong-footing Williams with a forehand into the corner. Nice.
*Andreescu 4-3 Williams
An ace to kick off Andreescu's serve. She's so chilled out there.
Williams uses the down-the-line shot to her advantage again as Andreescu can only send a return into the net. Williams takes a 30-15 lead but then looks frustrated as she flops Andreescu's next serve in to the net.
Fear not though. Williams break point.

Many sat on Ashe climb to their feet after Williams finally gets over the line. They know how important it was she held.
All of Williams’ nine defeats in Grand Slam finals have come after she has lost the first set.
So she will be hoping that hold proves pivotal...

I think Serena needs to pull something out of Bianca's book. She needs a little more variety.
She needs to go to plan C then go back to plan B, in my opinion.
