Once you’re inside Ashe, you see the court has turned into a sea of American patriotism. Feels like Madison Square Garden before Apollo Creed fought Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.

Ayo Obit: The key for Serena in this #usopen, external final will be to get to the 1st sit down break in the lead. In the last 3 GS finals she lost, she served first but was down a break or two at the 1st sit down and never really recovered mentally and ended up losing very easily.

Noel Kanyemba: Team Serena winning in two sets.

John Traynor: It will be a comfortable win for the world's greatest sportsperson.

Andreescu such a nice girl in the locker rooms. She's obviously so young. She's such an incredible girl. She certainly keeps on the right side of the cocky/confidence line.

I'm so excited I get to watch this.

    Andreescu v Williams

If Bianca Andreescu wins tonight, she will become the first teenager to win a Grand Slam singles title since Maria Sharapova won the US Open in 2006.

Win and she will move up to fifth in the world rankings. Lose and she will still rise to eighth.

Williams says she has not thought about her controversial defeat against Naomi Osaka in last year's US Open final.

She called umpire Carlos Ramos a "thief" and a "liar" as he docked her a game amid extraordinary scenes on Arthur Ashe.

"It hasn't really crossed my mind."

Let's hope tonight is less eventful...

Perhaps tonight is finally the night. If Serena Williams wins here in New York, it will also be a seventh US title.

If Andreescu wins, of course it will be a surprise. No Canadian woman has won a Grand Slam in the Open era, so there's history everywhere.

But first, Williams has got to win. Standing in her way is this woman - Bianca Andreescu.

The 19-year-old Canadian is playing in her first Grand Slam final after a season in which she won titles at Indian Wells and Toronto and rose to 15th in the world.

Twelve months ago, Andreescu - then ranked outside the top 200 - lost in the first round of qualifying at Flushing Meadows.
